Skiathos Palace Hotel

"During our stay at the Skiathos Palace Hotel the food was of very poor quality in the breakfast area, the evening buffet and White View restaurant. The hotel complex and access to the beach is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The standard of decoration in our hotel room, an executive room, was very poor. Toiletries attached to the wall, more like a premier inn, cracked tiles black mould on the bottom of the bathroom door, leaking bath and a large crack front to back on the vanity unit top. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room just 4 small bottles of water in the mini bar charged at 1 euro each and not replaced.The hotel certainly is not four star quality as advertised in my opinion. The beach bar on Maratha Beach was very good, the food served on the beach was of good quality, although very limited, however there was no toilet for the beach area and if needed a long uphill climb back to the hotel. The only good thing we can say about this hotel, the views were amazing. I dread to think what other cheaper rooms looked out on. The hotel is very isolated and a long walk downhill to the nearest restaurant and small shop, if you want a taxi from Skiathos town you have to share with others, no problem for us but you have to wait for ages to get one as they are all at the airport, we were told by a taxi driver there are only 21 taxis on the whole island.Would we return to this hotel only when it’s been knocked down and rebuilt. Nothing like the glossy brochure or online videos.Would we return to this beautiful island yes but certainly will be careful with our hotel choice."

"A friendly welcome is the key to everything. Despite the lovely views and location we experienced a horrible first impression of some of the staff that made us want to leave upon arrival. We were fresh of the plane, instructed to wait by the pool for our room, hungry and thirsty, with a child. Refused to even order water by the bar, asking politely 4 times after being seated for about an hour (!) while pool staff were prioritizing clearing tables instead, asking us to wait, avoiding eye contact, we finally had enough and got up and left. When we complained to the reception our room had been ready for 40 minutes without notification and we were recommended to call room service for food. We took the bus instead to town where the reception was so much friendlier and used the hotel as a place to sleep from there on. Our 3- star rating is because despite that first day, we encountered several other staff members that were welcoming or just wishing us a good day in the hallways. Doesn’t take a lot of effort! The hotel is beautifully located and with less stressed and friendlier staff and an upgrade in the breakfast ( which was quantity before quality), I would’ve rated this higher. It may not be a top modern hotel but it could’ve been a charming hotel! The many steps are perfectly fine to walk if you can walk without issues, you can always take a break and enjoy the views if needed. The rooms are nice and clean and a plus is the fresh towel service at the play area each day. The easiest way of getting to/ from both the bus and Maratha beach is by using the steps behind room 138. The bus costs 3€ single ticket to Skiathos town/ person and is bought with cash from a ticket seller at each bus stop. The buses can be crowded but we managed to get seats since we went to town early for dinner or beach visits. We fell in love with the island of Skiathos, but unfortunately will not return to this hotel again, it was not worth the money we paid or the 5- star tax!"

"The staff here are amazing in particular Matina. We are greeted with a smile every morning and she serves us the best coffees. She gives us advice on where to go and has been super helpful. Me and my friend will definitely be back again purely based on the service that Matina and Evgenia provides every day. 💖🩷"
