Skiathos Palace Hotel

"We recently stayed at Skiathos Palace Hotel, and while the island itself was lovely, our overall experience at this supposed 5-star hotel was disappointing. We had booked a Deluxe Sea View Room, but the room we received (No. 256) did not match the description or photos on either the hotel’s or the agency’s website (Odeon World Travel). The “sea view” was only partial while the main view was of the road, surrounding hills, and a covered area that looked like a drainage outlet, which really had a foul smell. The balcony furniture was of noticeably lower quality than what was shown online, and the room was located at the very far end of the hotel, which was inconvenient as we were traveling with a small child. Several maintenance issues also affected our stay. The room phone didn’t work, the safe was locked when we arrived, and the terrace furniture was basic and uncomfortable. For a hotel rated as five stars, these issues are unacceptable. Our complaint to Jana from the hotel staff was in vain, as she did absolutely nothing to help or even attempt to arrange the room we should have received in the first place. However, what truly stood out and what deserves special recognition was the staff. Some of them were simply exceptional and truly made a difference: Milica, who looked after the children in the play area, was outstanding. Her kindness, professionalism, and warmth were incredible, and our daughter still talks about her with a big smile. Milica genuinely made our stay better, and we are so grateful for her care. Efi, the lady at the pool bar, was wonderful - always cheerful, quick, and welcoming. Marijana, Tara, Anastasia, Nicole, Yulia, and all the male restaurant staff were fantastic — attentive, polite, and doing their best to make guests feel comfortable despite the hotel’s shortcomings. These people are the reason this review is not one or two stars. They represent true hospitality and professionalism, even when the management and facilities fall short. Overall, the location is stunning and the staff are exceptional, but the rooms, maintenance, and management do not reflect a 5-star standard. With proper investment and a stronger sense of accountability, this hotel could live up to its potential — but for now, it sadly does not."

"Exceptional Staff Made Our Stay Unforgettable!!! We recently stayed at this hotel and were truly impressed by the dedication and warmth of the staff. Their hard work and hospitality made our visit incredibly enjoyable. Catering Team: A heartfelt thank you to Vasilis, George & Letteris, what an intelligent young men. Also big thank you to lovely Thanos, Panos, and Anastasia – they were exceptionally friendly, caring, and helpful throughout our stay. Their kindness and professionalism made every meal a pleasure. The food itself was absolutely fantastic, especially dinner! The variety of dishes, fresh salads, and delicious desserts was outstanding. We were spoiled for choice, and the staff were always ready to recommend options, clear tables, and serve drinks with a smile. Reception Team: Maria, Katerina, Kiki, and Samanta were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They provided great suggestions for places to visit and were always available to assist with any queries. A special mention also goes to the cheerful bus driver who took us to and from the beach – his friendliness added a lovely touch to our experience. Hotel & Surroundings: The view from the hotel was absolutely stunning – truly a highlight of our stay. While the hotel itself could benefit from some updates (such as furniture, carpets, and interior décor), the overall experience was still very positive. We stayed just off-season (from 29th September), and although the weather wasn’t ideal, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well looked after. "Beautiful hotel with stunning views. It overlooks Koukounaries Beach, so has beautiful sunsets too. The hotel has its own beach - Maratha, which is quieter than Koukounaries and we enjoyed the contrast of both. The hotel is in a great location, with a bus stop right opposite, so we visited a different beach almost every day. It’s also about 30 mins on the bus from the town and port which was €3. We also travelled by water taxi (€7) on a few days, which was good fun. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean with a balcony. We stayed half board (there are other options too) and the food was great. Plenty to choose from and the staff are incredibly hard working, especially Anastasia and Nicolette. Anastasia was in charge of the dining & the BBQ they hosted was simply amazing, so well done to her & her team. There is a large swimming pool with life guard & we never had an issue getting a bed, and best of all nobody racing down to the pool at the crack of dawn to reserve beds - bliss. Free subbed towels daily too. The bar area is the hub of the hotel, where you can get lunch & the food was really tasty with good size portions. Plenty on the drinks menu too. You can also hire boats or arrange day trips etc from the reception. Entertainment of an evening was very chilled in the bar area, such as a singer and guitar player. No blaring disco music or cringy shows, just really nice chilled out entrainment so you can still hear yourself think & still have a conversation. So all in all we loved this hotel and would highly recommend it as a great place to stay."
