Finikia Holidays

Authentic charm away from the crowds

Walk 25 minutes east from popular Oia and you’ll come to Finikia, a peaceful, traditional village that offers an authentic Greek island experience away from the bustling crowds. With its whitewashed houses, vibrant bougainvillea, and narrow pathways, this charming area on the ridge of the Caldera is perfect for a slice of serenity, all while being close to Santorini’s famous sights.

A stroll through Finikia reveals historic cave houses and old wineries, showcasing its rich wine making past. The nearby Domaine Sigalas winery offers tastings of renowned Santorini wines, making it a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. A leisurely 20-minute walk leads to Oia’s superb sunset views, while Baxedes Beach provides a more secluded seaside escape.

Dining in Finikia is a delight, with family-run tavernas serving local delicacies. Krinaki is a favourite for traditional Greek dishes, while other small eateries offer fresh seafood and local wine. If you’re craving a quiet yet scenic Santorini experience, Finikia is an ideal choice.

If you’re visiting Santorini and haven’t yet pencilled in all of your overseas activities, you’re in for a treat. easyJet holidays is proudly supporting the Cyclades Preservation Fund’s campaign in Santorini, Posidonia Alert, which helps to protect Posidonia Oceanica – a vital species of seagrass that absorbs carbon up to 15 times more efficiently than terrestrial forests.

As part of this work, we’re happy to offer a guided snorkelling experience for just £1. The trip will be led by a master diver who knows the caldera – and Santorini – inside out. You’ll have the chance to see the unique Posidonia seagrass meadows for yourself and enjoy swimming in the stunning waters of the Aegean Sea. Plus, the trip includes use of snorkelling equipment, as well as pick up and drop off. Click here to book.

Your Finikia questions, answered

Oia can get very busy with tourists, while Finikia offers a quieter alternative. The pedestrian footpaths and white-washed buildings of Finikia give the same appearance as Oia, just without some of the iconic blue-domed structures.

The beauty of Finikia is that it’s a traditional, sleepy village, with not a lot going on. The village has three tavernas for dining, a beautiful church, and a supermarket. Finikia will give you that Cycladic cave house experience with a local feel, just a short walk from the Instagram hub of Oia.
