Matina Aparthotel

"Stunning We ended up here after a disastrous start in Lindos. This hotel is perfection. Views are stunning. We were luckily given one of the newly refurbished rooms above the ones with the private pool. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Staff were amazing. The pool bars were nice and staff very helpful and friendly."

"This was our 5th stay since 2020 when the holiday was switched and upgraded from Turkey because of Covid after Turkey was closed to Tourists. We were initially a bit concerned as we had never been to Pefkos before but absolutely loved it especially the location with the beach being around a 100 yards from our apartment. The Matina is a little more expensive than other self catering which we prefer, largely because of location we think but the facilities such as the supermarket on the doorstep and lovely bar and all the friendly staff and quality restaurants justify the cost despite the rooms needing a refresh. There is always the ever-present Stergos who has been working the café by the pool since the early days of the Matina and is always cheerful calling us his babies!. He really makes the Matina what it is.... very friendly and we miss it every time we leave. The two lovely girls who work in reception are so professional and always at hand when we needed taxis.. I will say and this seems to have been mentioned in a lot of reviews that the rooms are getting jaded and need painting and the garden area was a wee bit untidy by our balcony with what were obviously weeds, unless you go for the bed and breakfast or half board options which for some reason seem to provide updated accommodation?. despite this we still loved the holiday and the cleaners were always bringing new towels and bedding so cant fault them. This time the Hotel was quiet in terms of number of guests despite September being busy in the past as it cooled down a bit. There was always around a third of the sunbeds being free which was nice. We saw lots of empty seats on the plane and Pefkos being beautiful at the seafront was also quieter than it normally is at this time of year, but lovely watching the most incredible sunsets from the Lee Beach sipping a cold Mythos!!. We think that as Pefkos is 90% Brits and prices have have risen to near UK prices that given the UK is feeling the pinch in general that maybe many have gone elsewhere to try and save a penny or two. I have marked this as 4 out of 5 purely because of the rooms are needing an update & seems to be a common theme. This impacts on the cost a bit being what it is compared to others but the location and staff make it worthwhile in the end. We hear that the rooms we had being self catering are going to be upgraded in the future bit by bit which is nice , as i think a lot of cash has gone into the new reception area which is lovely. Will we go back, most definitely."

"Location 5 star, atmosphere staff 5 star, people’s bar 5 star one of the best breakfast I’ve had abroad is describe it as a Wetherspoons full English, pools 4 star could be have a bit of cleaner feel, rooms 3 star again could be a bit cleaner our drinking glasses never swooped arc just floor mopped and bed change towels, overall a good hotel few ants but it is September and the worst time for them although I haven’t seen any ant powder etc to calm them down a bit. Bar staff are a million stars and the reception team"
