"A quick note to all the 5 star reviews saying "ignore the bad reviews", please do not ignore them. Yes it is good to make up your own mins/decision but not every bad review is made up or deliberately harsh. There's lots of proof of dead bugs, dirt, poor all round cleanliness and all round bad experiences.
I did debate giving this review a 3 star, however thinking deeply I have stayed in cleaner, more up-to-date hotels which were a 3 star.
First things first is that the staff were absolutely brilliant, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, I couldn't fault any of them. Unfortunately that's where the real positives end, because everything else was either just 'okay' or down right poor.
The room and food options were just 'okay', the room wasn't overly clean, had some dirt here and there - the drains slightly blocked in the shower, marks in the toilet bowl, dust around the room and the odd dead bug/grime inside crevices near the balcony. The room seemed to be fairly newly renovated but it wasn't very well done. AC system was still dated, the shower didn't drain fast enough so flooded onto the floor constantly and was a real lack of space in the room. The food was sameish every night, they had "themed" nights which weren't really themed as it was basically just a slightly varied version of something else they were serving the night before. They had about 6-7 staples in the hoot food section which never changed every night, and then about 4-5 which did, but they were very sameish too. Food was lukewarm/cold most of the time but mostly tasted okay.
Unfortunately the rest of the stay was quite poor. Starting with the pool area, the pools need a proper clean/scrub down, there's grit all over the bottom of the pools and the walls of the pools have dirt stains all over. The area around the pool had flooding drains/dirty crevices also.
The all inclusive snacks throughout the day were also just terrible, unless you had a real craving for sausage/spinach rolls, a couple variations of random pastry's or icecream every day then that was it. The drinks were also just average, soft drinks were readily available, however most of the time the coke was fairly flat, the juices needed constant reminders to the statt to fix the pumps and the alcoholic cocktails were made cheap and lazily.
The night time entertainment was also not my cup of tea, I'm sure it was great for a very specific group of people or ages but I found it obnoxiously loud and repetitive. It was basically just an overly loud disco every night which could be heard from about half a mile down the road - so you can imagine how loud it was sitting outside near the speakers. It felt very catered towards either young kids or drunks every single night, which probably explains why I saw majority of adult only parties sitting away from the speakers playing card games or board games instead of watching/engaging. And this went on to 11pm and sometimes later every night, so if you had young kids or babies that you wanted to settle or get to sleep you were wishfully thinking.
I still had a decent holiday despite it, Rhodes is a great place and I'd happily return, just never to this hotel."
