"My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying 7 nights in the first week of April at the Atlantica Aegan Blue Hotel in Kolimbia. Our room was beautifully decorated with everything we needed, with a lovely inland view facing mountains and waterpark.
Although the weather (as expected at that time of the year) was not picture perfect- our experience was something I would like to share with you. It will be a long review. The list of praises is very lengthy.
Everyone always focusses on accommodation, entertainment, the pools, the bars… not us. My daughter has severe life threating food allergies ( nuts and eggs) and as you can imagine everyday life is not easy, especially dinning anywhere outside our home safety.
We travel a lot but never all inclusive, always self-catering.
As advised by TUI, I have informed our agent about the allergies, and they forwarded it to the hotel.
On our arrival (2am at night) we have been informed, that the hotel is aware of the allergies and in the morning before the breakfast we should come to the reception, so we can talk about it all with the catering staff.
Next morning, we have first met with very friendly Jessie who looked after my daughter’s catering to the end of our stay, then with the chef. They both asked about all the allergies and said, that the nuts and eggs are handled on the premises but food for my daughter will be prepared in the different area of the kitchen with an extra care to avoid cross contamination. We filled the form with all the details too. From that morning my daughter chose all her meals and deserts, even though they were not prepared in advance but fresh, we never had to wait longer then 15 minutes. The portions were big and the flavours were amazing. I must add that my daughter has got food anxiety and it takes her a big courage to try new food. For the first time she had: spaghetti carbonara, pita gyros, risotto and her favourite-greek lemon chicken. She had many more different dishes too.
Jessie (the supervisor) looked after us in the morning and lunch time then her lovely sister Cindy took over.
They were both very kind, always smiling and always had time for us to answer any questions, to check on us or just to chat even at the busiest time during the service.
Even the afternoon snacks (ice cream from Gelateria) were always prepared by the supervisor (lovely Angelo). I have seen him washing his hands, then putting gloves on from the new unopened glove box, opening the new unopen bag with tubs to take just one out, opening unopened box of ice-cream and using clean (and cleaned in front of me again) ice-cream scooper. My daughter could also order and be served by Angelo at the other snack bar with pizza, fries, burgers, salads etc, but she was always full after lunch, so she never tried it.
I have never seen so much care and attention to detail.
Everything to avoid cross contamination.
My daughter felt SAFE. I felt at ease and we both could enjoy our holidays.
I would also like to mention all the very hard-working waiters, waitresses and front of the house staff. Two Marias, George, Lefteris
and the staff from the bar outside- lady called Filio and her husband (I hope I got the names spelled correctly). They were so many other staff members but I did not check names- we were just enjoying our holidays.
The entertainment staff needs mentioning too, especially Luca who had time for every grown up and every running around the pool- kid. The way he runs the activities, his professionalism, patience and shown genuine care towards the guests in between sessions were outstanding.
Well done to you all. Atlantica Aegan Blue -thank you, we will be back again next year.
