"Hotel looked very lovely and inviting on arrival. Very clean. Nice greeting from the receptionist. We arrived after the dinning room closed, we were offered another meal in the week. No food saved for us, which is a first, not even a sandwich/fruit in our room. Travelling all day and nothing! Upsetting really as i have seen other reviews and they have been looked after, maybe they were FI! We were here for our anniversary. We originally booked a room with a sea view. It was nice to have a room upgrade to a suite which had one balcony with mountain view on one end and one terrace with a sea view at the other end. We were on the 7th floor. Small fridge which doesn't make a noise throughout the night, thankfully. We had a bottle of wine in the room and a towel heart on our anniversary, a very nice touch.
Unfortunately the roof top bar was right on top of us. Scrapping noises from people moving chairs and tables at night but more so from cleaners from 07:30. Easily remedied by putting rubber feet on chairs and tables like the furniture in the dinning room have. So, if you want an early night or a lie in, you won't get either!
Bathroom door doesn't close, the door 'keep' sticks out. Telephone's line in the main bedroom did not work, however the phone in the bathroom did. I called the receptionist who said "someone would be up straight away" this did not happen, which was why I didn't complain about the door, no point. Bathroom on the small side and dated. Sink has hairline cracks. The shower just on a pole and didn't move. You could take the shower head off though. Beware If you have mobility issues as you have to get into the bath to have a shower and no grab handle on the wall to get in and out. No bidet.
Sitting on the terrace there are two sun loungers and two chairs and a table and a hanging rail. Unfortunately we could not lay on the sun loungers as there were no parasols.
Cleaner's do a good job, cleaning most days. Bottle of water put in the room everyday. TV 2 channels in English. News and old dramas. Not here to watch tv but if you are slightly poorly.......
Massage very nice in the Spa. Grounds are nice, well kept and nice flowers.
Lounging by the pool, we had someone vaping on one side of us and a smoker the other side of us. Although it states on 'pool rules' notice board, 'No Smoking' I thought I would get confirmation from the lifeguard, and he said 'people can smoke', according to him this was fine. If you are a non smoker this could be an issue, it was for me. Beach is across the road. No toilet or bar on the private beach area. Sunbeds are comfy. However, sunbeds around the pool and on the terrace were very thin. No padding.
Not enough sunbeds for amount of people. Floor can be a bit slippy. The swim-up pool is heated and small and during our stay got quite murky looking. Mind the big first step into the pool by the bar, you need a ladder! The bigger pool - extremely cold. Didn't try the other small pool.
We were half board and yet we were served unbranded drinks at the lounge bar. I asked for Ron Bacardi and they didn't have any! Also, seated by the bar we could see the bar staff were serving short measures. I told one barman off and he just smiled.
In the roof top bar, we asked the waiter if we could have 2 Black Russian's, as they were not on the cocktail menu, he said he would ask the bartender. We were told he could do them. When we saw them, they were a strange colour, and hesitantly tasted them, we told him they were awful. He said "I'm a barman I know what I'm doing"😬 he didn't! So we explained to him how to make them. Insufficient staff in the bar areas.
Room service is 4€. As it's a 5☆
105€ room tax for 7 nights. Mini golf is 7€pp.
Paying for a bottle of water at dinner and lunch. Even if it's a glass of water. Outrageous.
In the dining room most times you have to wait to be shown to your table, why? This is a new and silly experience for me. What was worse, the waiter was not smiley, not a great at greeting.Coffee pots given at breakfast. Dining menu is okay. Meat over cooked at times. Had a beef wellington and pastry was raw. Similar desserts each evening but quite nice.
4 lifts that are small and a long wait especially at meal times. 2 lifts did not show a floor on the screen and no voice to tell you on any of them.
We would not stay here again. Definitely not 5☆, more a 3.5 - 4☆. So disappointed as it was a special holiday. I have never had an entertainment bar above our room before and I have stayed in many different countries mainly 5☆. The scrapping of furniture noise was too much for us. It would be much better for the roof top bar to be a sunset bar with lounge music to watch the sunset and close at 22:00. To have the entertainment downstairs so less disturbance for guests.
Just beware room 701 - 708 possibly would suffer this noise. Looked on previous reviews and similar complaints and yet, nothing has been done to improve this. Many reviews are about the Spa and massage not too much about the actual hotel. Like many people, we go on holiday for peace and relaxation, not to have constant noise from furniture being dragged along the floor until the early hours. Be glad to get home for some sleep!"
