"Now this review is simply based on our own preferences. You will see from other reviews that many people really rate this hotel and had very enjoyable stays.
Location: for us there are pros and cons. The hotel is in close proximity to the airport. We opted for a taxi which cost 35 euros. The pebble beach is directly opposite the hotel, accessible via a very busy road (which remains busy day and night) be really careful crossing this. Rhodes old town is about 1 hour walk or short taxi ride costing approx 10 euros. If you pre book the taxi it costs an extra 5 euro. There are pretty views overlooking Turkish mountains. There are a few shops, restaurants and bars along the main road. We would recommend FBI bar for food and drinks.
Rooms: we stayed in a ‘superior’ room which was towards the front of the hotel with a sea view, this was despite us paying for a garden view which for some may be seen as a bonus but trying to relax on a balcony overlooking a very busy road and noisy service entrances next to us wasn’t really worth the view. The balcony was large but poorly utilised and sheltered so no hope of any sun (to be fair it rained most of the week anyways… obviously not the hotels fault!) The room itself was standard. Bedding ok, but only 1 pillow each provided. Other than containing a double bed and slightly more floor space I’m not sure what made it ‘superior’. It all appeared clean enough although kettle appeared to have mould in it and there were some ants crawling around the vanity area (this appears to be problem on the ground floor also as my sons experienced this in their room too). Bedding is only changed once a week, I’m not actually convinced ours was changed at all but bed remade on one occasion.
Our boys stayed in a standard room on the ground floor overlooking the garden/quiet pool. The room was adequate, their kettle was clean and looked fairly new, however the water bottles were grubby as was the room itself which was tired in areas. Lots of ants around the door and rain water seeping through under the sliding doors (this happened all around the ground floor including in the lobby area).
Food: There are some elements of good food in the restaurant, but as with all all inclusives it does become repetitive and unappealing. None of us got ill from eating the food, although some items were lukewarm it was clearly cooked through. Big salad selection but sadly everything just tasted the same. The restaurant staff are very efficient and friendly. The snack bar serves pizza, salad, chips, pitta and gyros meat. The pizza is freshly made, the pitta is nice and fluffy and gyros nice enough.
At the ‘cafe/outdoor bar’ they do have some sandwiches (none of which are very pleasant) and other left over bits. I would avoid this. Sometimes there were cakes which were ok.
There are little ice cream tubs which literally taste of nothing.
Drink: so if you like coffee or tea before 10am then you have no choice but to stay contained to your room or the restaurant (whereby understandably smoking is not permitted). The ‘coffee shop’ is not a coffee shop, there is simply a coffee machine. There is another machine in the bar lobby area. However these are not switched on until approx 10am. I have no idea why not, other than to save on cost.
It is a similar situation with the beer, wine and fizzy drinks. Sadly at least 2 days during our stay all drinks were really flat and tasted disgusting.
Entertainment: we had one good night of entertainment, the rest of the week entertainment was non existent. Many acts were cancelled due to the weather, we found this odd as karaoke was put on in the bar lobby… not sure why an actual singer couldn’t perform in that area. There is hardly any atmosphere throughout the day, and zero atmosphere if the weather is bad. No music… nothing. Weather permitting darts is offered once a day.
There is very little for children or teens here.
Facilities: there is a gym which looks fine. There is a spa (the basic sort of pop up table for a massage).
2 pools, both very cold but to be expected for October. Main pool does look very pretty at night. Plenty of sunbeds and seating around.
There is a ping pong table near the gym and tennis courts (not sure where but people were returning with their rackets so must have been in use).
Hazard: whilst the hotel cannot be responsible for the weather, the attention to health and safety is severely lacking. During our stay there was heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, the floors around the hotel were soaked people were literally sitting in puddles. The hotel really needs to sort out their drainage or think of alternative ways to effectively make the floors safer to walk on. Simply putting around wet floor signs is not good enough in my opinion. No one wants to risk their life to get an ashtray, mediocre gyros or flat beer/wine.
Overall: in my opinion this hotel does not feel like a 4 star although areas of the hotel (such as the entrance) can give you a better impression of it. I appreciate that it is end of season but when you are still paying £1000 + per person I do expect to experience what Tui describe on their website. I would say the hotel is more 3 star, however our experience was a 2.5 at a push. We don’t have high expectations anywhere we go, but this was extremely underwhelming and disappointing (whilst the weather played a part, the lack of atmosphere overall is what ruined it). I wouldn’t recommend coming here especially out of season. There are much better 3 stars in Greece that we have experienced out of season, which offer a much more friendly, enjoyable overall experience both in and out of the rain"
