"We had the best holiday at Blue Lagoon Queen - we are planning on going back again next year. We had a swim up family room, that was 2 separate bedrooms with a shared bathroom in between. It was beautifully clean when we arrived, and maintained that way all the time. (We were a little taken aback about the using the bin for toilet roll - but this seems to be the norm in Greece and the bins were emptied daily). The swim up pool was shared with around 10 rooms, but often we were the only people in it. There was also the large family pool, where there was generally music playing. The pools (other than at the water park) are all quite deep (1.2m minimum) with no shallow end so my son did struggle a bit.
With 2 children, we used the water park 3 days of our stay, and they had an amazing time. The slides cater for all levels of adrenaline junkie and the lazy river was my son's favourite thing. The life guards around the water park were lovely with my 6 year old who wanted to do the slides, but was also scared, they were very kind and encouraging. I heard people say that they were strict, but this was only when people were trying to go on the slides with children who were too small, or children who were doing stupid things. The area around the pool is concrete with gravel pressed in, which could get a little painful (and hot) - we took pool shoes with us, which were a godsend and meant we didn't need to worry. They were also great for the beach.
The multiple bars around the complex served different snacks depending on where you were, so it was never boring and we found the food was great - lots to choose from, as long as you aren't always going for the pizza / pasta and chips option. There was different fresh fish / seafood every day, different types of traditional Greek meat dishes (stews, grilled etc), and a wide selection of vegetables and salads.
We went to the a la carte Italian one day where the food was also delicious (and the portions HUGE!). We found all of the staff to be very friendly and personable, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
We went with TUI, so my children went to the kids club a couple of times, which they really enjoyed, the staff there were great with the children, and as they did the kids entertainment in the evening too, they worked really hard. We didn't stay for any of the adult entertainment, but all the entertainment (that we saw) was based in an amphitheatre at the front of the hotel, which had it's own bar and it meant that the noise didn't affect the rooms which were all behind the main building. My only problem with this was the amphitheatre had stone seats which could get a little uncomfortable (but that is a very minor issue).
The beach is at the opposite end of the complex from the main building / waterpark and it across a very quiet road (I think we saw maybe 4 cars and a delivery truck in the whole day we were at the beach). We hired a cabana for the day for €30 (I think) which was a nice place to get out of the sun / sand for short breaks and also came with a fruit platter and bottle of prosecco. The beach and sea are rocky in places, but the pool shoes worked great here too.
Overall, with 2 children under 10, it was an amazing, relaxing holiday and I cannot recommend this hotel enough."
