Aegean Melathron Thalasso Spa Hotel

"We came for a weekend after numerous visits here only to discover that the quality of the whole place dropped tremendously. The hotel itself - nothing special: the typical “all-inclusive-set-up”. Poor service: we asked for a different room, as the bathroom was not suitable, worn-out and with some strange smell, we had to wait for a solution which took too long and eventually did not happen. The beach: overcrowded, as they are letting in outside visitors and at the end there is no space for the hotel guests, despite the paid sunbeds and umbrellas. They are offering big umbrella shades and beds beachfront for the price of €40, but they are not available as they are constanlty prebooked in advance either for the “owners of the hotel or for their friends”. When we asked for a reservation for the next day, it was not possible though the umbrellas remained empty until the afternoon. We had to squeeze ourselves at the end of the beach area, next to the boats and jets, experiencing the strong smell of the fuel. The beach-boys are not polite, turning their back rudely when I asked why there were towels thrown on empty sunbeds. Apparently the annoying habbit of leaving the towels early in the morning is still tollerated at the Aegean Melathron beachside. Crying children and shouting parents are everywhere and I am not speaking about sporadical situations, it’s the type and culture of the tourists at this place. The SPA team though was very polite and they are offering a fine selection of treatments. And the food is OK, with the relevant buffet variety, NB! dinner hours are until 9.30pm. Overall: Aegean Melathron is way overpriced for what it offers."
