Thalassi Hotel

"It was a delight to return to this lovely, well managed and spotless hotel for our second visit. I can see why regular guests have been coming back for years: friendly owners and staff, comfortable, modern rooms, a great, recently renovated bar/pool area and a fab taverna by the sea for evening meals. Sfakaki is a small village but it has a good village taverna, a bakery, an ice cream shop, two supermarkets (no need to bring loads of toiletries with you) and a pharmacy. It is perfectly placed for bus trips to Rethymno Town in one direction and the seaside village of Panormo in the other. A short walk up the hill brings you to open countryside, dominated by the distant Psiloritis mountain range. For those who wish to explore the region, there is a good car hire firm just over the road and parking at the hotel."

"Wow what a holiday!! The thalassi hotel was amazing. The Hotel was a small friendly family run hotel. The hotel was spotless, the food fantastic and the sunsets in the resturante every evening were breathtaking . Dimitri the owner is in the resturnate every day and is passionate that you enjoy his delcious food and looked after us so well. The staff became friends as they were so friendly from the moment we stepped off the bus we were greeted by Anthony who was there everyday to help us with anything we needed. Steffi behind the bar was amazing and made the best cocktails everynight with a smile on her face and a welcome like no other. Every member of staff here is family and all work so hard to make your holiday amazing .we definitely recommend this hotel and we cant wait to go back . Miss them all already"

"This was my first solo holiday and I couldn’t have picked a better hotel! As a solo female traveller, safety is the main priority and I am happy to say I felt completely safe both in the hotel and the area. The staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. Although I didn’t drink this holiday, I did spot a few tasty looking cocktails that were being served at the pool bar. I often had lunch by the pool too and the caeser salad is sooo good!! My room was great, I had a beautiful view of the hills and also the sea. Again, I felt safe to be in this room alone which is a huge plus. The cleaning staff were very friendly and folded my pjs neatly on the bed which I thought was really sweet. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away - there is a more pebbly beach to the right-side of the hotel and then the softer sand beach down by the restaurant. Supermarkets were also a 2 min walk away either side. I felt safe walking around the area alone during the day. At night, if I was at the hotel restaurant I preferred the shuttle bus just due to the underpass but if I was at another local restaurant I felt fine to walk alone at night. Lots of stray but very well looked after cats about too! I will definitely be returning to this hotel/area in the future and so glad I picked this for my first solo travels. Couldn’t recommend it more :)"
