"Outstanding Experience!! One of the most beautiful properties I have stayed at. Everything from check-in to lobby bar, restaurants and rooms are amazing. The resort location and common areas are stunning! I was surprised to see poor reviews about staff, we had the opposite experience. There was a laid back but consistently high service across the resort. It added to the personality/experience of the resort. The restaurants were excellent and the prices were reasonable. You are at a 5 star resort and shouldn't be surprised that prices are higher than the nearby taverna!! We never felt that the prices were excessive. Our room was beautiful (Junior Suite with Private pool) 100% recommend!!! We look forward to going back. A car is recommended (you are about 30 mins drive from Chania). Valet parking is included in the room rate."

"We’ve just returned from a wonderful week at the new JW Marriott Crete, and we were genuinely impressed. Considering it’s such a new opening, the hotel already feels incredibly well run. The staff were fantastic, warm, attentive, and always keen to help. You can tell they really care about creating a great experience for guests. Some reviews mention breakfast being busy, but honestly, it just felt lively and well-organized. The team handled it smoothly, we never waited longer than a few minutes and it was probably the best meal of the day. Everywhere you look, the views are stunning, with crystal-clear seas and dramatic coastal scenery that feels totally unspoiled. I think all rooms have a pool and there are three larger pools with plenty of sun lounges. There are also sun beds dotted around the resort nestled on the rocks by the sea with incredible views. We stayed in an Earth Sheltered Two-Bedroom Villa with Sea View and Private Pool, which was beautiful – spacious, peaceful, and cleverly designed. It was ideal for us and our two teenagers (17 and 13), who loved having their own space. If we could change anything, it would only be small things: a few more onsite activities for older teens would make it even better. For us adults, it was a perfect place to relax and unwind, but our teenagers found it a bit quiet after a few days. Food and drinks were delicious and beautifully presented, though on the higher end price wise. We spent around €250 a day for a family of four, so perhaps the pricing is designed more for shorter stays or business travelers. A few more casual or better-value options would make longer stays easier. Overall, though, it’s a truly stunning hotel - beautifully designed, in a spectacular location, with excellent service and attention to detail. We’d absolutely return. It already feels like one of Crete’s best new destinations, and I’m sure it will only get better from here."

"The JW Marriott Chania is without question a beautifully designed property. The architecture, layout, and interior aesthetic are exceptional — modern yet warm, perfectly complementing the Cretan landscape. The pool areas and views are breathtaking, and the overall design feels like a true five-star resort. Unfortunately, the service and overall guest experience fall far short of the hotel’s potential. Breakfast was a shambles each morning — long queues for tables, confused staff, and a sense of disorganization that’s completely out of step with a hotel in this category. Staff often appeared disinterested or overwhelmed, with little initiative to resolve issues or make guests feel looked after. Meals at the hotel restaurants were similarly underwhelming. Presentation was inconsistent, and the quality of the food didn’t justify the prices or the JW name. When feedback was raised, the response was defensive rather than service-oriented — as if guests had to justify their concerns instead of being heard. For a property with such remarkable design and promise, it’s a real shame that the guest experience doesn’t match. The hardware is five-star; the service, sadly, is not."
