Socrates Hotel Malia

"This hotel deserves a 5* review, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left the staff made you feel at home and nothing was ever too much trouble. Rooms: we booked a one bed apartment for the two of us (209) room was clean had everything we needed, bathroom at little outdated but it done its job. Two balcony’s over looking front of hotel, clean fresh bedding. No issue with ants as others have expressed. Only gripe about room was lack of hanging space for clothes but we made do. Housekeeping did a great job daily. Aircon ice cold. Staff: hotel staff were amazing, greeted on our late arrival (11pm) by the owner, taken to our room explained timing of restaurant bar, and if we needed anything reception staff timings. Despina and Evan’s (our name for him) during the day couldn’t have been any more welcoming if they tried, genuinely enjoying what they are doing. Very attentive and are a credit to the hotel. Kristina and kostas in the evening again friendly, made you feel at home, made the best drinks and looked after us during our stay. Pool area: we stayed early May, was quite never a problem getting a sunbed and they were super comfy and in full sun all day. Towels available for use at the pool. Staff will come round a take your orders for drinks and serve them to you at your beds. 🏊 Food/drinks breakfast included in your stay, plenty of choice, juice, coffee,teas, hot food, cereals, fruit, cakes pastry’s.🩷 We ate at the hotel lunch/dinner on 3 occasions, the chef is amazing and passionate about what he does. Very responsibly priced and the quality, presentation and taste was probably the best hotel food I’ve eaten. We had no complaints 🙌 Drinks menu was extensive, everything I wanted they had, all premium brands and the cocktails aren’t die for! Pricing wise I think they are very reasonable, especially as they are all premium branded alcohol. Location: great location we had a private transfer from airport took around 25mins to arrive. Shops restaurants nearby. left out the back of the hotel 20minutes walk to stalis Right out the back of the hotel down too the malia strip 10mins walk. You can see the owner is spending a lot of time and money on the hotel to make it even better than it already is. We will return 100% to this hotel, next time we will bring the children. "I can recommend Socrates Hotel without any hesitation! We stayed several nights and the service was consistently friendly, helpful and professional, led by Anna on reception, and Despina and crew in bar/restaurant. The hotel and pool area, and our room were spotless. Very comfortable room and beds. Lovely meals available, and delicious varied breakfasts provided. Airport transfers were very helpful, as was other advice and information. Quiet hotel for wide variety of guests. Easy walk to Malia centre and Old Town, and to the beach."

"We were a bit concerned about staying here due to the reasonable proximity to the strip in Malia. It’s actually a perfect distance as you are away from it all and can dip in and out as you see fit. This hotel is wonderful. We absolutely loved it. Relaxing and tranquil with the best staff ever. (Especially Despina) everyone is lovely and cannot help you enough. We will definitely be back."
