Socrates Hotel Malia

"This was advertised as a 4 *hotel we booked a superior triple room which was advertised with minibar microwave and kitchenette this was NOT the case! Very basic room and the bedding etc were not crisp white sheets very dull old bedding along with the towels !! All the dining was outside no inside space but the food was only kept warm by candle burners and was usually Luke warm which wasn’t great quite a few complaints about this and it did get slightly better. The outside space was quite nice and the private bungalows at the front of the hotel looked lovely a good addition but quite pricey considering you still have to eat cold food. Staff friendly especially Despina who worked from 8.30 to 5 each day. The whole main building hotel needs a massive overhaul. The rooms looked quite grubby and when we complained (and so did many others) they said it has last had makeover 10 years ago so it’s definitely due one . Definitely feel this was wrongly advertised by easyJet (we showed them the description) but they had no such rooms like that ! It’s no more than a 3* rating very basic."

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Socrates Hotel in Malia! From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. The hotel has such a lovely, relaxing atmosphere, and everything was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were fantastic — Despina was really friendly, helpful, and always happy to make sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality really made our stay special. The location is also excellent, giving you easy access to Malia while still providing a peaceful place to relax and unwind. The pool and surrounding area were perfect for enjoying some downtime, and the overall atmosphere made it very easy to feel at home. What really stood out to us was the attention to detail and the genuine warmth of the people working there. It’s the kind of place where you leave with great memories and already start thinking about coming back. We absolutely loved our stay at Socrates Hotel and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Malia. Thank you to the whole team for making our holiday so enjoyable — we can’t wait to return! ❤️🇬🇷"

"Great from beginning to end. Pool area and bar 4*. Rooms 3.5*. Greated by welcoming receptionist. Room good size. Bathroom a little dated but all functional. Good shower pressure. Shower gel, bodywash and conditioner provided. Usual hotel hairdryer. Room serviced daily. Full size fridge. Kettle provided but no tea or coffee. Despina and her colleague (sorry no name as no name badge) at breakfast and pool bar so friendly. Breakfast as expected. Hot options not hot enough. Pool area great with very comfortable loungers. Despina provided poolside service. Pool towels available from reception. Had lunch once which was very tasty. Food and drink prices competitive. Location great. 10 minute walk to Old Town. 5 minute walk to beach. Would definitely recommend."
