A simple Malia base

Newcastle Studios is an adults-only property welcoming guests aged 16 and over, giving you a relaxed self-catering base in Malia, close to the resort’s old town area and within reach of its bars, restaurants, and beach life. Malia is known for its lively side, but there’s more to it than nights out, with traditional lanes, sandy shores, cafés, and easy access to Crete’s north coast. Stalis, Hersonissos, and Heraklion are all doable for days out, too.

The studios are simple and practical, with balconies, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and self-catering touches that make holidays feel flexible. The pool is the main gathering point, with sun loungers, umbrellas, a pool bar, snack bar, garden areas, and a sun terrace ready for low-effort days. Pool tables and a social atmosphere give the place a bit of extra holiday fizz, especially if you like a base that feels casual and friendly.

    Find out more about Malia

Crete’s undisputed party capital is up there with Magaluf and Sunny Beach in the neon-lit nightlife stakes. Its famous strip is tucked just behind the beach, and it’s packed with clubs, pubs and bars that encourage revellers to dance until dawn.

Holidays to Malia aren’t all about the nightlife, though. It’s loved for its beaches – golden sandy stretches which wind along the north-east coast. Favourite swathes include Potomas Beach, which has a sleepier feel than the rest, and Glozanie Beach, where the watersports and thatched bars create a lively atmosphere.

Check out Malia’s Old Town for scenes of old-world Greece. Its cobbled lanes flaunt Medieval churches and whitewashed cottages that have stood the test of time. Unlike the strip of the town centre, you won’t find a fast food shop or a chain restaurant in sight here – it’s all about independents offering up tastes of the island.
