"We stayed as a couple at the Galani Palace, mid-October 2026. We chose a double room with a private pool. After reading the reviews, I thought some people were exaggerating, and we went for it. In the end, we agree with them, it is "NO LONGER" a 5-star, far from it. Many things are no longer maintained. Maybe we were unlucky, but when the "courtyard" in front of your room, which contains the private pool, is itself full of water continuously (leak?)... It is known by everyone, but nobody does anything. You walk in water every time you enter or leave your accommodation. The person who brings your suitcases knows it and carries the suitcases on their shoulder (room 1105)... Do not count on privacy in your private pool, everyone has a view of it. Some with a sheer curtain that hides nothing, and others, with nothing, just in plain view of everyone. On the maintenance side, you shouldn't count on them either. Our TV was completely unprogrammed, nothing worked anymore. And well 10 days later, despite 4 follow-ups, it still doesn't work (but they didn't come to see). Just like the Wi-Fi, which is inoperative, even worse, the router at the foot of your bed flashes blue constantly, but nobody does anything either. We ended up wrapping it in toilet paper to manage to sleep without a blue beacon in the room. After 5 days, they offered us a room change, that was the only solution they had… (repairing, apparently too hard) It is clear that maintenance of the "pools" is not their strong suit, it leaks a little everywhere. As for the front desk, it is decent, even if, "off-season" when you have 4 couples arriving at the same time, there is only one luggage porter. So you wait 40 minutes, in the lobby, without a seat, without anything, standing next to your suitcases. You would get there faster on foot (and by a lot). As for the food, it is decent, a variable buffet every evening, some seasoning issues but whatever… Surprisingly, Greece does not seem to be Muslim, but you will not find pork there. Only copies, which as the name suggests… are copies... Here again, the building is not in top shape, two rows of plasterboard on the ceiling were torn off, but… not repaired… The floor is EXTREMELY SLIPPERY, a tile, very smooth, which with the slightest drop of water becomes an ice rink. Although you see nice bottles of brand-name alcohol everywhere, you will only get copies. Even for the basics. And the all-inclusive is not totally "all"… if you want a milkshake, it is extra… like many other things. On the other hand, with "All-In" you get a bottle of mineral water, whereas others get a carafe of water… I would have preferred carafe water and the milkshakes included… The pools are "frozen" in October. And even the indoor one, or the one for children are not heated. Just like the private ones, the semi-private ones, and the large one. Everything is frozen, in October, do not count on swimming (or if you do, in the sea which is warmer) As for the sea, it is a half-pebble, half-sand beach, where the sea is often calm. The hotel is next to the village, but there is not much to see. The bus to Chania is right in front for 3.8€ per adult Allow a good hour for the drive from the airport to the hotel. Be aware that on the way there, we had a good driver, calm and serene. On the way back, we (7 people in the minibus) all almost threw up because he was driving so badly and too fast, not to mention the slamming on the brakes, the honking, etc. (T4All company from the airport booked through "Lastminute.com") I forgot: off-season, there isn't much activity, but the hotel brings in a professional every evening in the lobby: A singer, a musician, a clown, a juggler, and I forgot the others) There you go, you know everything; certainly it is not very expensive compared to other 5-star hotels, but it is not (anymore?) up to the standard of a 5-star hotel in our personal opinion."

"Absolutely not a 5 star resort. There were many things that would classify this resort as a 2 star. Firstly, the food is the biggest thing, it was cold and tasted 3 days old, it was a repetitive buffet style which was not described as the website showed. There were no fancy themed dinners, no à la Carte, little to no Greek food and the cocktails were below standards. We paid for a 5-star all inclusive experience yet they only had 1 beer to offer and any premium liquor was an additional charge. As for the room, we noticed immediately it smelled of mould and nothing would dry, it was constantly damp inside. We paid for a room with a private pool and the pool itself was colder than an ice plunge."
