Kleanthi Apartments

"Where do I even start? Firstly, a huge amount of credit has to go to Nicos and Kleanthi, because without them our stay simply wouldn’t have been as enjoyable as it was. We stayed at Kleanthi Apartments for one week and honestly felt at home from the minute we arrived. After a delayed flight from Luton, Nicos was there to welcome us at around 12:30am, showed us to our rooms and even stayed up to have a couple of drinks with us at the bar, which was the perfect start to our holiday! The next morning, we were warmly greeted by Kleanthi, Nicos’ mum, who also happens to cook the most amazing food. Highly recommend her chicken wings and gyros, thank me later! The rooms themselves are absolutely fine and have everything you need for your stay. Don’t come expecting five-star luxury, because that isn’t what you’re paying for here, and that’s not what makes this place special anyway. The rooms are cleaned, the sheets are changed during your stay, and everything was comfortable and exactly what we needed. The only thing I’d say is if you want to walk to the beach, you have to cross a relatively busy road which may not be ideal for some, and little kids but I can imagine a taxi would be very affordable. What really makes Kleanthi Apartments is the hospitality. You’re not just paying for somewhere to sleep, you’re getting genuinely warm, friendly service from people who make you feel more like family than guests. They also put on a BBQ on Saturday evening, which was absolutely delicious, and there was so much food! It was such a lovely evening and another little thing that made the whole stay feel special. We were genuinely so sad to say goodbye at the end of the week, which probably says everything you need to know. We will 100% be back. A massive thank you to Nicos and Kleanthi for making our stay such a memorable one and for making us feel so welcome from beginning to end. Efcharistó! ❤️🇬🇷"

"Location are ok, you must cross busy road to get to restaurants. Rooma are ok bit dated and bathroom are tiny. Breakfast amazing. Pool bit dirty on sites with algy and really deep no chance for no swimmers. At end we be told to leave before 13:00 new people was coming in,our flight was at 23:00,but our booking was till next day. There offer us stay bit longer by pool and change in dingy toilet. We show them middle finger and left."

"We stayed at the Kleanthi Apartments in Gouves, Crete at the end of June/beginning of July. It was our first visit and we were not disappointed with our accommodation. A lovely quiet location, Kleanthi and Nicos were very welcoming. Our apartment was very clean and tidy and the bedding and towels were changed regularly. In addition, there were plenty of sunbeds for everyone around the lovely pool supported by the pool bar which provided excellent food and drinks. We especially enjoyed Kleanthi’s special omelette and Greek salad washed down with a cool Mythos for lunch! Also, we experienced Nico’s first BBQ of the year which was attended by a full complement of residents staying at the apartments. It was superb with a variety of meats and salad. We then all followed that up with cocktails and drinks; Nicos makes a wicked Long Island Iced Tea!! A great evening was had by all. The apartments were well served with and excellent local bus service and a good selection of tavernas within about 20 mins walking. All in all a great holiday and well recommended for a relaxing escape in Crete."
