Royal Marmin Bay Boutique & Art Hotel

"Lovely friendly hotel. We had our own balcony we could eat out on with spectacular sea views. We were lucky with the weather so spent time sunbathing by the eternity pool, (although the pool was a bit cold) sitting on the beach, swimming in the sea, trying the spa treatments or walking to the two local villages, Plaka to the left or Elounda to the right. We took a boat trip to the island of Spinalonga, the ex-leper colony so vividly described in Victoria’s Hislop’s novel “The Island”. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. We had half board and the standard of the breakfast buffet and the evening buffet was excellent. Staff in reception are attentive and responsive. The bar serves a range of drinks with a Greek twist."

"Our second visit to the Royal Marmin bay . We love the hotel , its location and of course the lovely staff . Special mention to Maria , Marios, Maria Angelina on reception all so helpful . Ergi who escorted us to our room lovely Albanian man . George who operated the mini bar . Maria barista at breakfast and of course our lovely housekeeping ladies . We had a delux room with pool and amazing view . Even during the rainy days the view is so relaxing ! You can ask for a kettle to make tea / coffee in room ! The beach bar and lovely staff is great in the afternoons for a swim in the sea and a cocktail . We walked to Plaka and to Elounda about 30 minutes each . Taxi 10 euros. Breakfast buffet very varied and good quality . Main pool simply beautiful with amazing view. We shall return !"

"Had to pay €1.50 for a coffee in the bedroom. Ridiculous. No ability to make a tea in the room and no mention of that in the hotel info. We would have taken a travel kettle if we’d known. Very small patio on standard rooms. Hotel is on a VERY steep site. Whilst there are golf buggies to take you around the site, they don’t operate in adverse weather. Only had a hot plate to use for the buffet dinner once during the week. By the time you had loaded a cold plate and got it back to your table, the food was lukewarm at best. The gym did NOT have any static bikes or rowing machine. However great equipment for weights etc. Finally the hotel is well over a mile from Elounda and over a mile from Plaka. The buses only run once every 2 hours from the hotel to the towns."
