"It’s rare to find a hotel where you immediately feel genuinely looked after, but from the moment we arrived at Casa Delfino Hotel and Spa, it was clear that hospitality is at the heart of everything they do.
What stood out most was the incredible team. Every member of staff we met, from reception and the porters to the spa therapist and the wonderful breakfast team, was warm, enthusiastic and sincerely interested in ensuring we had the best possible stay. They didn’t just care about our experience at the hotel. They were equally passionate about helping us make the most of Chania and the rest of Crete by sharing thoughtful recommendations and local knowledge.
If you are driving, the hotel does offer complimentary private parking. Although it is located off-site, the hotel provides a short three-minute buggy ride to and from the car park, or you can enjoy an eight-minute walk if you prefer. Given how difficult parking can be in Chania’s Old Town, this is an excellent solution and never once felt inconvenient.
Breakfast was one of the most peaceful and enjoyable hotel breakfast experiences we have ever had. Despite not having a full restaurant, Casa Delfino serves an outstanding breakfast with a wonderful selection of homemade breads, pastries and sweet treats, alongside fresh local produce. Sitting in the beautiful courtyard each morning was incredibly relaxing and the perfect way to start the day. The breakfast team were exceptional. They were always cheerful, attentive and happy to prepare freshly cooked eggs or speciality coffees. Their warmth genuinely set the tone for the day ahead.
As the hotel does not have an evening restaurant, guests are provided with a carefully curated map of recommended restaurants, most of which are within a five-minute walk around the Venetian Harbour. We found this incredibly helpful and the reception team were always happy to make reservations on our behalf, which we would highly recommend as the restaurants become very busy. Thanks to their recommendations, we enjoyed some fantastic meals during our stay.
Our room perfectly balanced historic character with modern comfort. It is remarkable that a building which has been in the same family for nearly 200 years can feel so contemporary while retaining so much charm. The room was spacious, bright, beautifully furnished and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed.
We also visited the spa for massages, which were among the best we have had in a very long time. Before our treatments, we enjoyed the beautifully designed jacuzzi and hammam steam room, creating an incredibly peaceful and relaxing experience. The spa represents excellent value for money and is something we would highly recommend.
Another hidden gem is the rooftop bar, which boasts stunning views across the Venetian Harbour. It was the perfect place to unwind with a cocktail after a day of exploring. The atmosphere was calm and intimate and we enjoyed our time there.
Chania itself is a beautiful town and Casa Delfino proved to be an ideal base for exploring western Crete. During our stay we visited Falasarna Beach, Kissamos, Balos Lagoon and the Botanical Gardens, all of which made for wonderful day trips. There is still so much left for us to discover and the hotel staff were always on hand with excellent suggestions tailored to what we were looking for.
Overall, Casa Delfino was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Crete. Everything, from the beautiful historic building and comfortable rooms to the exceptional service and genuine warmth of every member of staff, combined to create an unforgettable stay.
We would not hesitate to return and already hope to stay here again in the future. If you are looking for a boutique hotel in Chania that combines luxury with genuine hospitality, Casa Delfino is an easy five-star recommendation. It was a phenomenal experience from start to finish."
