"🌿🇬🇷Agios Nikolaos Miramare – June 2025
We stayed at Miramare in Agios Nikolaos in June 2025 as a family of two adults and one 4-year-old, and honestly… I absolutely loved it.
The hotel is fabulous.
The location is fantastic.
Everything about our stay was amazing.
On arrival, we were told our room had been upgraded to a suite with a private pool — and from that moment, the holiday excitement went through the roof. When we later checked, we realised that upgrading to this room would have cost us around £1,000 extra, so we were absolutely ecstatic. That private pool truly made our holiday extra special.
The suite was huge, beautifully air-conditioned, and very comfortable. Our child had his own sofa bed, which to this day he still talks about — his “very own big sofa” and, of course, the pool on the balcony were his highlights. The pool itself was massive, and we spent several days just enjoying it. The views were simply breathtaking.
The hotel is set on a large hill, with rooms and suites spread across different levels. Don’t let this put you off — there are golf buggies running all day and night, ready to take you wherever you need to go: reception, pool, or your room. Our child absolutely loved the buggy rides, and to be honest, so did we.
The beach is about a 15–20 minute walk, even with a 4-year-old — no problem at all.
We didn’t spend evenings at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the entertainment, although there seemed to be something happening every night. We prefer to go out and explore, so we were in town every evening. Sometimes we walked, sometimes reception booked us a taxi — which always arrived within 5 minutes. A trip to town cost around €5–€7, depending on the day.
Now… the taxis 😅
Why are they all brand-new Mercedes?!
If you live in the UK, you know your taxi is usually an electric Yaris or Aygo that smells of mud and sweat. Not here. Every single ride was in a sparkling, luxury car.
We were half board and had a couple of meals at the hotel, but mostly we ate in town. I absolutely love Agios Nikolaos — it’s quiet, modern, and incredibly clean. Even the public toilets and restaurant restrooms are beautiful: stylish tiles, artwork, baskets full of free toiletries for ladies (deodorant, tampons, creams, everything), and fresheners everywhere.
My partner confirmed the men’s toilets were also spotless — although sadly, no free tampons for him 😉
We spent about 80% of our time on the beach. Sunbeds cost €15–€20 for two and included two frozen bottles of water. The sunbeds are right by the sea, so you can dip your feet in the cool water whenever you like — we loved that. We usually arrived around 10am and never once struggled to get sunbeds (unlike Menorca, where it felt like a daily battle).
The beach snack bar was amazing — gyros at the beach were my favourite, washed down with lemon Mythos 🍋🍺. The beach itself was very clean, peaceful, and not crowded. I genuinely miss it.
Evenings in town were relaxed, not too busy. Every time we went to a bar, we were brought something complimentary — fruit salad, a big bowl of crisps (not the tiny kind!), or cake. Our child loved it. As always in Greece, the staff were incredibly friendly, especially with children — balloons, toys, free snacks, lollipops, ice cream… one waitress even took him behind the bar so he could choose his own treat.
They always made us feel so welcome.
(This is something we really missed in Menorca — people weren’t rude there, just… present, without that extra warmth.)
That’s why we keep coming back to Greece.
For the hospitality, the people, and that special feeling.
We’ve loved Rethymno, Parga, Ayia Napa, Agios Nikolaos — and have never been disappointed. Last year we tried Menorca for a change of scenery and food, but honestly, it didn’t compare. This year, we’ll be returning to Greece again — and we can’t wait.
Would I recommend Miramare?
With all my heart.
And if you can stretch to a private pool — do it. You won’t regret it. 💙🇬🇷"
