"Small family hotel, located facing the sea. We were upgraded to a sea-view room with a small balcony. Very good breakfast with cakes (yum, the little cookies) and homemade jams, adorable staff at breakfast, good espresso. Good mattresses but rather narrow beds. A bit noisy, certainly, but we forgive it…"

"Rooms small (the minuscule bathroom part really is very-lean-people only) but cleaned and done every day. “Sea view”: obscured by the trees in front. A plus: free private parking lot. Breakfast passable, but we were told to clean up ourselves. In the two mornings that we have been there: no warm water available. There were mosquitos in our room. Insufficient noise insulation (we could hear people sneezing in another room); we were lucky that the other guests behaved well at night. The location is a minus: too far on foot from the city centre which in turn is quite complicated concerning both traffic arrangements and parking, should you try to go from there by car. Upon my arrival the hotel receptionist told us that we would have no air conditioning in our room (although pre-paid along with the other the room amenities) unless we paid an additional 9€/day. Never have I experienced such kind of extortion. Why pay this twice… I filed a complaint with Trip.com and they reacted immediately to settle the matter. Not enough. The next morning, the hotel receptionist was quite upset at my complaint. He treated me on lengthy irrelevant explanations and concluded his monologue with this guest being (I quote) “very rude”. Never mind this person: Crete people are very kind and extremely helpful, and this piece-of-work is just an out layer. But the extorsion is quite different a matter and clearly systematic for this hotel, because: 1) the receptionist had contacted his direction who confirmed to press on with this air conditioning extorsion (he said: “company policy”), and 2) a hotel employee confided in me that this dispute has occurred with previous customers before. I will not go back there. TIP: make a print of the room amenities you reserved and paid for, so that you have evidence ready at hand for your upcoming clash when you arrive. Also, if you booked with “Trip.com”, then check for an email containing the link “Support in approx. 30s” and file your complaint there: they are quick to respond."

"This is a lovely family run small hotel. Nothing too fancy but everything you need . Lovely, friendly helpful staff. If you’re looking for 4 - star luxury then this is not the place for you. You would probably find it too basic. Guests are mainly elderly English who come back year after year. I’m not sure if it would suit young families with children. Good location - about 15 mins walk into town but with plenty of restaurants/cafes on the way if you don’t want to venture that far. Nice pool area with bar. No pool towels - you have to provide your own but no big deal. Rooms a little old fashioned and small but there is everything you need and towels changed daily. We had a sea view room with balcony which I would recommend rather than a rear facing room. Large car park if you have a hire car. We would happily stay here again"
