Minos Village

"I'd probably give this hotel a 4.5 if I could because it's great for the price and has a lot going for it with a couple of minor glitches. We didn't get the most typical experience of the hotel, because we were there when it was probably the wettest week of the season - on the odd occasion we did use the sun loungers by the pool it wasn't that busy. On the plus side the hotel is very well located around 50 yards from a quiet road junction with 5 traditional Greek restaurants and plenty more within a 10 minute walk. The suite was a good size and comfortable and kept spotlessly clean - though there was a slight pong coming from the kitchen sink (maybe due to the adverse weather). We had a top floor room and the balcony didn't have a solid roof so when it rained we had to go inside (on sunny days that could be an advantage to get more sun). We'd definitely come again, and probably will in the hope of having better weather next time. One thing to bear in mind: We arrived after 10.30pm when the reception was shut. Finding our room was like trying to do an escape room. A letter on the reception door gave us a number to Whatsapp in order to get a four digit code. The Whatsapp method didn't work for the couple we had arrived with, so I phoned another number and a voice gave me the code and where to locate the keypad. We then had to climb lots of stairs to try and find our room. The numbering system is unusual to say the least and we had quite a few attempts before we found it. Another older couple who had already been there 45 minutes were really struggling and we helped them carry their cases up about 30 steps to their room. We enjoy escape rooms so we found it fun, but you might want to make sure you arrive before 10.30 at night and ask for a room with no steps if you need to."

"We arrived at 8 pm from our flight from the UK, we were told that there was a problem with our Studio (which we had booked). We were told we were being upgraded to an apartment but we would have to move out the day before our departure and go to another room for the final day! We only booked for 7 days. The apartment we had was appalling. The bathroom was so small we could hardly move, the shower had a shower curtain and the toilet was so close to the shower you could not move. The door to the bathroom could not fully open as the room was so small. I personally tripped going into the bathroom as the tiled shower surround was so close to the toilet it was difficult to not do so. On the Wednesday evening we had to pack all our belongings to move out the following morning and put our luggage in the secure room. Our new room would not be ready until later in the day, technically leaving us without accommodation. We arrived back at the hotel around 3 pm to be shown to our new room and the shock we had as the room was a Studio which we had booked was absolutely amazing. It had a lovely glass surround shower which was amazing, the bathroom was so much better. The TV was a super upgrade from the apartment. We were so upset as this is the room we booked and we were given a sub standard room for most of the holiday. We were not even allowed to keep the room for longer than 11 am the following day which was our departure. We had to unpack for our final evening, sort clothing out for the final day and going home clothes. Then we had to pack all our belongings again. Our age did not matter but being in our 70’s it was not the way to treat guests and the staff were not in any way bothered. We had a heated discussion in reception saying we had finally been given the room we booked and how upset we were but all of this was ignored. ."

"Had a lovely stay at Minos Vollage. The rooms were very spacious and spotless. Cleaned daily except Sunday. Short walk to the beach Lovely restaurants immediately to the right. Reception very helpful."
