Days here might be best spent by the outdoor pool, set on a sun-soaked terrace dotted with palms, loungers, and umbrellas, with a pool bar close by doling out cold drinks and cocktails. When it’s time to slow things down, there’s a small wellness offering with massages, plus a petite fitness room if you like to keep active while you’re away.

Come for the sun, stay for the fun. The seaside village of Aghia Marina on the northwest coast of Crete is one of the island’s most popular resorts. Situated around 10 kilometres from the Venetian harbour town of Chania, the main attraction is its long, sandy Blue Flag beach, fringed by shallow turquoise waters. Along with its inviting golden shoreline, there are plenty of tavernas, cocktail bars and nightclubs to shake things up when the sun goes down. Although Aghia Marina holidays are popular, it’s not difficult to find your own beach spot away from the crowds.
