Peaceful getaway on Crete's north coast

In the peaceful surroundings of Agia Marina on the northwest coast of Crete, Dore Boutique Hotel has bagged a quiet spot less than a five-minute stroll from the beach.

The pool is the star of the show here – it’s nice and big with a spacious terrace and plenty of sun loungers so you can get straight to relaxing. There’s a separate pool for the little ones to make a splash in, too. The nearby beach is sure to be a hit – it’s long and sandy with shallow waters that are ideal for swimming. There are plenty of activities down at the waterfront to try out, too, whether you fancy snorkelling in the Mediterranean or hopping on a boat trip and to take in some spectacular views.

Embrace Greek and Mediterranean dishes in the hotel’s buffet restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For snacks and cocktails, the poolside bar has you covered – you’ll barely have to leave your sun lounger. For a taste of authentic Greece – and the atmosphere to go with it – head into the village and visit one of the local tavernas.

Find out more about Agia Marina

Come for the sun, stay for the fun. The seaside village of Aghia Marina on the northwest coast of Crete is one of the island’s most popular resorts. Situated around 10 kilometres from the Venetian harbour town of Chania, the main attraction is its long, sandy Blue Flag beach, fringed by shallow turquoise waters. Along with its inviting golden shoreline, there are plenty of tavernas, cocktail bars and nightclubs to shake things up when the sun goes down. Although Aghia Marina holidays are popular, it’s not difficult to find your own beach spot away from the crowds. The resort comes to life at night, but it’s more of a low-key buzz than full-on ‘Club Tropicana’ partying. Holidays to Aghia Marina are also a favourite with Greeks, so you will be able to rub shoulders and share ouzo shots with the locals.
