"We picked this hotel based on location and price, it turned out perfect for us. Very easy to get everywhere using Uber, or the metro.
The hotel is very welcoming, we arrived at about 7pm, check in staff were great and all speak very good English, we were given a complimentary upgrade and a bottle of wine on the house too!
Our room 716, faced away from the Acroplis overlooking a busy square, but that was okay for us. But it's a shame the window was so dirty.
We dropped our bags and went straight to the quiet, but fabulous rooftop bar for a cocktail, which took a while to arrive, there are great views of the Acroplis lit up at night. It was the following morning that we started to notice things in the room that weren't quite fitting of a 5 star hotel. The waste bin in the bathroom hadn't been emptied from the previous guests. The light on the vanity mirror didn't work. The soap dispenser in the shower was broken and propped up on the shower rail. Lots of mould within the silicon. The quilt cover had holes in it and should not have been used. And I've mentioned the filthy windows.
We had time at the pool which could be a really nice area. The hotel state there is no life-guard on duty, no problem with that at all. But no staff ever check the beds, remove towels or offer drinks. And parents allow the kids to run wild as no one is monitoring this.
We took our comments to the Customer Service manager, she was very attentive and took lots of notes. That evening we caught up with her and we were taken completely by surprise when we were offered an upgrade to a junior suite which was fantastic, we declined as it was our last night and we had an early start anyway.
We were also given a complimentary three course dinner in the roof top hotel restaurant, another very generous offer which we accepted.
However, it turned into a disaster! The restaurant was quiet but well staffed. We ordered wine, starters and main courses. Wine and starters arrived. Then the main courses arrived just as we we finished our mains. The waiter didn't appear to know what to do, so we moved our starter plates and took the main courses. He also took our used cutlery, then seemed flustered that we wanted fresh cutlery.
We finished the main courses, and waited, then waited even longer, the three staff constantly bypassed us despite it being clear we had finished. At no point did anyone ask had we finished and did we want the desert menus. After 45 minutes we gave up and went to the till to voice our comments. The waiter I spoke with said we should have asked to have the table cleared and for the dessert menu. I said that's not how it works, he disagreed and said it was our fault! Poor management of the staff. The maitre de had finished about 10pm, this was nearer 11pm. Also at no point did anyone ask whether our meals were okay
We mentioned this on check-out, again the desk staff were very sympathetic and said there was going to be a management meeting to discuss what we had brought to their attention.
I don’t think we'll be going back. The hotel management have taken their eyes off the ball, and the place needs a big shake-up.
The photos are all mine."
