Athens 1890 Hotel & Spa

"Our stay at Aria Hotel 1890 in Athens from March 8th to March 12th was extremely disappointing. We booked three double rooms with breakfast included, but we were never informed in advance that the hotel bar and restaurant were closed due to renovation works. As a result, breakfast was moved to an external partner café. Unfortunately, this café was completely inadequate: the oven was not working and we had to wait about 40 minutes just to get a croissant. After reporting the issue to the hotel manager, we were told that the breakfast cost would be refunded at check-out. However, at check-out I was informed that my credit card had already been fully charged four days before my arrival, without any notification. To date, the promised breakfast refund has still not been received. Additionally, I wanted to use the spa and swimming pool, but I was informed that access was only allowed if a €145 massage was booked. This condition was never clearly communicated and felt misleading. Overall, the hotel showed poor communication, lack of transparency, and unprofessional handling of guest complaints. Considering the price paid, the experience did not meet expectations. I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again."

"Conveniently located a short walk from Monastiraki Square and Metro. Reception is through the restaurant. We spent two nights there, and it was clean and comfortable, with almost no traffic noise (unusual in Athens). Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful."

"The hotel room was fine. It is an older building, but the room was a good size withe the usual amenities. The location was excellent. BUT the breakfast sucked big time. Breakfast was not a buffet. It was chintzy. Have you ever heard of a European hotel breakfast that limited you to one cup of coffee? Well this place charged $3.50 Euros for an extra coffee. Very bush league. Don't get a "breakfast included" package at this hotel. You will be disappointed."
