Athens 1890 Hotel & Spa

"The hotel was beautiful, the staff was pleasant, and the food was good, but the A/C did not work at all, and they refused to give us a credit back on the room. We could have booked a room in Athens without A/C for a quarter of the cost. I do not recommend this hotel for this exact reason. We went to bed with it 82 degrees F (27.9 C) and woke up to it 81 degrees F (27.4 C). When we checked into the room around 2 PM, it was as hot as 84 degrees F. Do not stay here! "Our stay at Aria Hotel 1890 in Athens from March 8th to March 12th was extremely disappointing. We booked three double rooms with breakfast included, but we were never informed in advance that the hotel bar and restaurant were closed due to renovation works. As a result, breakfast was moved to an external partner café. Unfortunately, this café was completely inadequate: the oven was not working and we had to wait about 40 minutes just to get a croissant. After reporting the issue to the hotel manager, we were told that the breakfast cost would be refunded at check-out. However, at check-out I was informed that my credit card had already been fully charged four days before my arrival, without any notification. To date, the promised breakfast refund has still not been received. Additionally, I wanted to use the spa and swimming pool, but I was informed that access was only allowed if a €145 massage was booked. This condition was never clearly communicated and felt misleading. Overall, the hotel showed poor communication, lack of transparency, and unprofessional handling of guest complaints. Considering the price paid, the experience did not meet expectations. I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again."

"Conveniently located a short walk from Monastiraki Square and Metro. Reception is through the restaurant. We spent two nights there, and it was clean and comfortable, with almost no traffic noise (unusual in Athens). Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful."
