"Just finished a 3 night stay in Athens. We stayed at Elvita Asty hotel, which was clean and comfortable, but not in the greatest neighborhood. Speaking of the neighborhoods, there is a dinginess overall of the city. It just looks as though it needs a little TLC. That’s not to say we didn’t enjoy our stay, but I can see how some may be turned off. We were within walking distance of most of the market areas which were typical of European charm. Lots of little alley ways and winding narrow streets to explore. Some areas look like movie sets and are absolutely charming. The vast majority of people we met were incredibly nice and really appreciated any attempts to speak a little of their native tongue although most speak fluent English. Highlights were the Acropolis, Plaka stairs for dinner and the overall friendliness of the Athenians. Very much enjoyed our visit!"

"We stayed two nights at the end of July. We arrived after midnight. 24 hour reception. The room was small but clean and had a fridge. We stayed two nights. It is very near Omonia square. The area is run down and wouldn't recommend wandering about at night. We paid about £26 per night for two and had a comfortable bed. You really can't complain as this is a very central with good transport links."
