"We recentltly spent 4 nights at the Acropolis Hill Hotel and what a little gem this turned out to be.
We booked a room with a Philopappos View. Our room was located on the 6th floor and we were stunned to see that we had a perfect view of the Acropolis.
We arrived late to the hotel at 11.30pm after a delayed flight. Getting to the hotel was a little complicated as we found out when we arrived at Syntagma Square that the red line to Acropolis Metro Station or Syngru was closed after 21.00 for on going engineering works. The metro was easy enough to navigate from the airport and cost 9 euros, one way. We ended up walking to the hotel from Syntagma Square which during the day when you have your bearings wasn't a problem but after a long journey, with heavy luggage and steepish hill to walk almost finished us off.
The really friendly night receptionist, greeted us warmly and directed us to a perfect all night eatery where we could feed our hunger and take onboard a lovely ice cold lager.
The room was perfect for our needs. The bed was the comfiest I have slept in for a long time and particularly welcome after a long day exploring Athens. Some of the furniture was a little worn but didnt detract from a really comfortable stay.
Breakfast was perfect for our needs with a small hot selection complemented by a vast continental selection. There was plenty of choice and good quality products.
The location of the hotel is perfect and for the duration of our stay we walked everywhere without difficulty. There is a main promenade, type path, Dionysiou Areopagitou, which runs past the base of the Acroplis and leads through to Thiseio which if used as the main link to the sights you can avoid a lot of the steep climb up to the hotel. All the main sights are approximately a 20 minute walk from the hotel.
The location of the hotel was perfecr for us, away from the touristy areas which meant we got good value for money and authentic Greek cuisine in the local tavernas. The hotel is in the Koukai district with an abundance of late night bars and eateries. Restaurants close late, approximately 1-2am or stay open 24 hours a day, there's even a 24 hour bakery, which is another level in treats and baked delights.
Although the hotel is located at the top of a steep hill from Koukaki, replenished with some amazing food and good lager from local eateries we had no difficulty with the location, however those with mobility issues would find this a challenge.
The Acropolis Hill Hotel, was a total delight, perfect for our needs as a 50 something year old couple and we would have no hesitation in returning in the future."
