Holiday Inn Nurnberg City Centre

"When booking the room on booking.com, it shows four people (two adults, two children), and it says we paid for four people. When arrived, turns out there's an extra 25 euro a night per child for using the other bed that's already in the room, and that the price is for the kids to sleep in the double bed with the adult (mind you, we had to write that the kids' ages - 6 and 9 - when booking). I can see many others have complained about this and the standard reply from the hotel is that it says so when you book it. Well, yes, but it's extremely well hidden in the small print and even the receptionist couldn't find it in our booking to show us when we arrived and were confused to be charged extra. Also, the extra bed (a fold out couch) was already made when we arrived, meaning they new very well that we would need and use it. Since we had prepaid the room, we were stuck and couldn't do anything about it. No other hotel we've ever stayed as has ever done this, announcing a room for four people and then charging a high extra cost for us to use two beds. You can defend this all you want, as being in the small print all you want, it's a very bad business model. It soured the entire stay, the cleanliness of the room, the taste of the breakfast... never using holiday in again and will leave bad reviews where ever we can as well as warn everyone we know to not use it. Also, the hotel is in the red light district full of window prostitution, strip bars, groups of boys selling drugs. Not family friendly. And the parking is absurdly expensive for the hotels own guests (20 euro a night)."

"Very disappointing experience. We booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children, and the Booking offer clearly stated that both children stay free of charge. However, when we arrived at the hotel, we were asked to pay an additional €25 for each child (€50 total), plus €20 for parking. This completely changed the actual price of the stay. I find it unacceptable to present the offer one way online and then charge something different at reception. Because of this, we refused to stay and left the hotel. I do not recommend this place to families who want clear and transparent pricing from the start."

"Have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and it does not disappoint! Car park below hotel - hotel in city centre (edge) - perfect. Plenty of places to eat, drink, shop - all within a few minutes walk. We were there for Xmas markets and the city and hotel were busy. Breakfast was very good and plentiful and the whole hotel operation is wrapped up by a team who provide a great and friendly service. We'll be back!"
