the niu Loco

"Great location, nice modern hotel and lovely staff. When you first arrive at the hotel it’s to be noted that the hotel is actually behind another hotel (Plazza or something) but is just a short walk down the small alley to the right to find the Niu Loco. The reception is nice and modern and didn’t have too long to wait to get booked in. My friend and I had separate rooms which were next door to each other but my friend was asked how many door cards she wanted but I wasn’t asked for some reason. The breakfast location is easily found on the ground floor and after breakfast is over it turns in to a nice area for a coffee/tea or cocktail. Only thing would say about the breakfast is there wasn’t a massive choice of vegan options or a plant based milk that I could see. However my friend made up for the both of us :) The room had a lovely shower and although the bed was two single beds pushed together it was very comfortable and fact you could alter the air con to own preference and open the window was a great touch. The room had a nice big tv (shame only English speaking channels I could find were BBC news or CNN) but free WiFi meant you could use your phone for music/streaming and had a safe to put important things in. All I would have added was a kettle or coffee machine in the room rather than having to pay for a tea/coffee at reception. The Studentenstadt u-bahn station is about 5-7 minutes walk from the hotel and literally come out of the hotel, walk to the main pavement and turn right. You will see the road bend to the right under the flyover (cross the road and walk left hand side pavement as the right hand side is very uneven to walk on). Keep on the left hand pavement and walk in to the P&R car park..on your left, behind the trees you will see the u-bahn entrance (will attach photos so you can see what to look for). Would stay here again and recommend as u-bahn is only about 10-15 mins from Marienplatz and an hour from main airport. Nice clean hotel, comfortable bed and nice place to relax in"

"Not good enough for a business guest. The desk is too small to use, the lighting makes it impossible to work. In the evening the "restaurant" serves only frozen pizzas which were disgusting. The hot food choices at breakfast were cold, the pastries and bread were stale. The shower was tiny and close to unusable. The concept is fine but the delivery is just not good enough. I would not return."

"We’ve had a great stay here which unfortunately was let down during our last day at this hotel. We had a late night flight back so we had arranged a late checkout in order for us to sleep in and prepare for the long travel day ahead of us. Unfortunately we were woken up in the morning to extremely loud drilling noises (I have videos highlighting this) coming from a room close to ours. When I went to reception to complain, although the first staff member was apologetic, the male manager was not sympathetic and the only compensation he would offer us was to switch rooms. This made no sense to me when we would have to pack up all of our belongings only to move rooms for a few hours. I was also already awake so it wouldn’t have been possible for me to fall back asleep. We were not notified that this building work would take place and it has completely disrupted our travel plans for the day. I am seeking compensation and will continue with this as this is unacceptable. This also happened the morning after many people attended the Sam Fender concert the night before (which finished late) so I’m assuming this is going to disrupt multiple people who, like us, decided to stay at this hotel."
