"Let me start by saying that I would actually rate this hotel as excellent were it not for a couple of issues which I will mention. But let me start with all the positives that make this hotel the perfect choice for the first-time traveller in Munich, like we were. Firstly, location! Just opposite the Hauptbanhof, the hotel is simply within walking distance to all that you might need whether it's for some leisurely spending (there's a mall close by on the way to Karlsplatz and Deichmann just below the hotel), good restaurants (Wirsthaus Rechtalerhof is just a minute away on foot) or simply to reach anywhere else in Munich by public transport (basically you fall into the metro station as soon as you're out the hotel). Should you prefer, the hotel is an easy walk into Karlsplatz and further on into Marienplatz, a beautiful street lined with shops, restaurants and cafes, with the unmissable Frauenkirche and the Rathaus. Round the corner at the back of the hotel there's also a tour operator offering some wonderful tours in and from Munich (Radius Tours - highly recommended). The Lufthansa airport shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel and even though we booked our own private transfers for our first visit, next time this is just a more economical and easy option it seems. Bottom line, the location is simply unrivalled. The hotel itself is anything one would expect of NH in terms of service, cleanliness and room space. The check-in and check-out procedures were a breeze; they also offer the possibility of doing this online and leaving the room cards in a box at reception. We had a premium room for 3 pax booked and with our 15-yr-old son, this offered a good space and some privacy thanks to the room being sectioned halfway. Two TVs were available but I would suggest a better mix of channels, especially in English for tourists - my recommendation in 2026 would be smart TVs that offer Netflix or other individual apps. Apart from that we simply could not connect to the free wifi with our devices and windows could not be opened at all, thus why my rating went down, perhaps a minimal thing for some. Complementary water was provided daily and a fridge and Espresso machine were also available with a selection of teas as well. The shower as always is lovely at NH, great water pressure and lovely bath towels. The breakfast was excellent, offering an ample choice of English and continental, some truly lovely pastries, an egg station, pretzels, cereals, yoghurts, juices including tomato juice and several other items. I myself have a sesame allergy and because the bread items were mixed at times, the chef kindly offered to freshly bake the bread for me. The staff at breakfast were truly amazing. Chapeau to Gisella, the Guest Relations Manager who was a real sweetheart and we could talk to her about anything. Bottom line is when we're back in Munich, we will return."
