Holiday Inn - the niu Amity Potsdam

"I was part of a team of four on an extended stay at this hotel for a work project near Potsdam. We have used this hotel before with no problems and this time around, it was largely fine. However, we did have some security concerns. On three occasions, other guests were checked in to one my colleagues' room; luckily, he was in on all three occasions. After reporting the first intrusion to reception, it happened on two more occasions the same night. He is a big bloke and capable of looking after himself but this would have been a scary experience for a solo-travelling woman. We were charged for car parking twice (only one car!) These things happen but despite repeated attempts to obtain a refund we were fobbed off despite the documentary evidence. Not very impressed by service or staff attitude, to be honest."

"The hotel was otherwise okay but the customer service was horrible. I was not the only one traveling for the event having some kind of problem with their booking. Here is some of my experiences. - Most of the front desk workers know almost no English - They do not know themself that you can reserve their room from the niu, and not only booking.com - When I arrive, I am told my reservation does not include breakfast (even tough it was included) and required to pay it again. This was returned the next morning when I asked again, but a friend that had the same thing happen was not properly returned the money. - I also noticed I was billed more than my order stated and when I asked about it they used a lot of time (half a day) to try to figure it out, and then told me in broken English everything is in order - When I was leaving they then tell me they owe me money, but can't pay me back right then as they have a problem in the system, and tell me to come back some hours later before I leave the city. When I return they say they still have a problem and can't pay me back yet, but that they will contact me and took my email on a paper note. They were also unable to print a proper invoice. This was 6 days ago and they have still not contacted me, nor answered my email I sent them about the problem. - They are part of IHG one reward, but they have failed to connect my stay to my membership number I provided."

"Was a disappointing stay not as good as other holiday inns we have stay in, the staff were friendly but we booked a double bedroom but it was two single mattresses together and they kept coming away with two single duvets. There was no tea or kettle in the room and breakfast was not worth the price the scrabble egg was rubbery not fresh. As it’s not a cheap hotel I didn’t think it was worth the price it was the same level as an IBIS budget hotel just the interior is a bit snazzier. To note last year we stayed in the other holiday inn in Potsdam and it was by far so much better!"
