Courtyard Berlin City Center

"We returned here after about 10 years for a two week stay for a combination of business and family—we got two rooms, one for us and one for our son and friend. It was really delightful. I Rooms are simple but super clean, comfortable, and cool during a summer of heatwaves. Rooms bright and spacious and quiet. Everyone—from front desk to restaurant to housekeepers—professional and friendly. We normally went out to find breakfast, since we don’t eat that much. 10 years ago they had coffee machine in lobby for a couple euros per cup but that is gone. They also used to have a real east Berlin bakery in the neighborhood which is gone. There are several places within 10 minutes to get a coffee and croissant, but we finally learned to buy a carafe of coffee down stairs and to get fresh pastries from leidl nearby. Most evening we would go down to the bar for a glass or wine before heading out for dinner, and that was most telling. As servers came in for their shift they greeted each other and us warmly. They seemed happy to be there. There was also a clear system of attending to what needed to be done and of senior staff training younger staff. It was impressive. It is called leadership and organization. Our third week in Berlin we transferred to the Hilton which is a higher star hotel, but we frankly missed the Marriott. The little bit of added luxury didn’t compensate for the friendliness and organization here. Obviously, I highly recommend it. The neighborhood has changed since we first stayed here 12 years ago. It stands just on eastern side of the Berlin wall, whose line you can still see. 5 minutes to U2 subway line, which is main east west line through city. Close to check point Charlie. Nice walk to mitte and several other interesting neighborhoods."

"I spent a week in Berlin, and I stayed at this Courtyard. Having been a traveler for both work and leisure for decades, I have to say that this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were cordial and accommodating. They always had smiles on their faces and were willing to go the extra mile. I suspect that it flows from the owner. He helped me out one night when I thought I lost my keycard. Luckily, I found it in my room and returned it later. Okay, my room: I have insomnia, but I had some of the best sleep I’ve had in quite sometime within that room. The room was quiet, very clean, and well maintained. When I needed extra things like additional soap or towels, they responded promptly. The gym was well equipped and open 24 hours. They only ask that you be considerate to other guests when working out after 10 pm, which is, of course, quite reasonable. I’m a night owl, so I often returned to the hotel after 3:00 am (Ronny can attest to this) and worked out around 4:00 am. After 3:00 am the food pickings are a little slim, but there is a well-stocked area where you can get some late night eats. I enjoyed the sandwiches. The choices also included fruit cups, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) available, and other options for you at all hours. My final day was bittersweet. I thoroughly enjoyed Berlin and will be coming back. Appropriately, Ronny was the person at the desk at 3:30 am when I came down to to check out and catch the Uber for my 5:20 am flight back to Portugal. If would recommend this hotel if you’re in berlin. By the way, this hotel, in my opinion, for the level of service you receive, is quite a bargain."

"Very good customer service. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate our requests. They were also very kind and helpful. It's not the best location, but that's not a statement on the hotel itself. Our room was clean and it was a pretty good value for the price."
