"We rented two rooms during July 2026, the first one in early July on the 4th floor when we arrived from the airport, the second time on the 6th floor before leaving the country (end of July).
First off, the hotel is across the street from the main trainstation (Haupbanhoff) so this is super practical and the station is filled with stores (even a small Decathlon!).
On the first occasion in early July, the room was small and I personally found the mattress hard as a rock and found it difficult to sleep and was super uncomfortable. Wife and daughter were ok. The pillow was like a big ball of fuzz and also super uncomfortable. And I don't know what's the deal here but we had a queen bed with two small quilts (one for each of us for my wife and I) rather than a single big one. I felt like a child taking an afternoon snooze with his little blanky. I am not a big or tall person and this quilt was just enough to cover me when I laid on my back but if I turned sideways, there was always a part of me that was not fully covered. Couldn't pull it too close to my face either as my feet would have been unconvered. So not sure why they provide such quilts because they are zero fun to sleep in.
On the other hand, room was clean, very well insulated from outside, our window faced the train station and busy street and we could barely hear any road noise. Washroom was big and clean and water pressure was almost too strong.
On the second occasion (end of July), we were on the 6th floor in a bigger room with a balcony covered with grass and stones and is common to all rooms (one long balcony for 6 rooms)
At first glance coming out of the elevator on the 6th floor, the hallway smelled terrible, like a mix of cigarette and whatever which reminded me an old appartment block and I was scared that it would stink in the room but it did not. Close call.
This room was bigger and also clean. Not sure but I feel like if the mattress and pillow this time were better than the first time but between these two stays (3 weeks apart), we slept on uncomfortable hard mattresses in a camper so perhaps this changed my perception of this new stay on the 6th floor.
Also in this room, the toilet was separated from the shower where the sink is also located which was a bit inconvenient when our adult daughter was in the shower room and wanted her privacy as we could not access the sink (or water).
The balcony access is great and has a pretty good view (writing this review from balcony!) and the only down side is when the neighbor sits outside and smoked as the smoke came our way.
When we arrived in our room, it was our daughter's birthday and they had a small piece of cake in a box with a happy birthday note. That was pretty cool.
In both rooms, we had a little fridge but although both times the cooling fins on the back wall appeared cold, it did not seem to keep anything cold so I think the fridges are kind of useless. Our yoghurt the next morning was room temperature.
Across the street is also a Fellows coffee shop with excellent lattes. The hotel's italian restaurant on the first floor is also very good.
All in all, coming back to Berlin, I would probably seep here again. It wasn't cheap but was the best price we could find that close to the train station and service was good."
