ibis Styles Strasbourg Centre Gare

"When we entered the hotel we were a bit disappointed as it looked dark and small. Then, eventhough we had requested a quiet room on a high floor, we were given the room on the first floor and right next to the elevator facing the busy street. The room was really small and we had to store our carry-ons under the desk while we "squeezed" the chairs between the wall and the desk. The distance between the desk and the bed was very little but it was enough to sit on the bed and write on your laptop on top of the desk. Other than that the room had a mini fridge and a kettle but not, very surprisingly, a bin! The pleasant surprise came after our first night when we realized that the soundproofing was excellent while there were also electrical window slides keeping the noise out. We heard some noises like uploading supplies to the super market right across in the very early hours but it wasn't that bad. On the other hand if we were given a room like we had requested on a high floor I am sure we were not going to hear anything or be bothered at all as we are light sleepers, unfortunately. The amenities in the bathroom was one product for everything, very odd and very cheap which later on we realized it is the IBIS philosophy/sustainability (I call it cheap) as we had the same experience with the Ibis hotel we stayed in Colmar after our stay in Strasbourg. The breakfast was excellent, very good it had everything and the persons who worked in the kitchen/breakfast room made great efforts to replace everything on time, they were increndibly fast! The location was great, very close to the center and the river but very conveniently close to the train station. I really can't say if there were any dangerous and sketchy people around, as it is very common for hotels close to the train stations, because we didn't stay out during the long hours. I omitted to mention that there was a small room behind the reception area where you could have free of charge coffee, tea, water and some candies."

"Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in Room 506 - bathroom door cut open my heel The room had no WIFI - for 2 days. Enquired was advised they would look into it but didn’t come back to me. Painting in hotel made it impossible to sleep and got a massive migraine and nose bleed from the paint. No cups in the room only glasses No bibs had to walk into the hallway to use the bin. Only redeeming factor was the breakfast which was good. I would never stay here ie recommend -"

"We have stayed here numerous times before and it is always lovely. Our room overlooked the street which was great and you have an electronic shutter for at night much totally blocks out any light and noise. Had such a good nights sleep. Excellent shower as well. Warm welcome on arrival as well. Breakfast is fantastic here with so much to choose from, definitely something for everyone along with the record player whilst you are eating. Location is great as less than 5 mins from main railway station so you can check in and then wander down to Petite France for a lovely meal."
