M Social Hotel Paris Opera

"The good -Room good, spacious enough, well furnished, adequate storage, big comfortable bed -Breakfast good, good selection, tables available -Lifts are a novelty with a bit of history -Foyer very nice -General condition of the hotel was good -Room was quiet internally, didn't hear doors slam, the lifts or other guests in the hotel -Well located, about 12-15 euros in a taxi from Gare du Nord or walk if you’re travelling light -Staff friendly and helpful -Water machine near lifts was appreciated -Close to Metro station -Nice L'Occitane toiletries in the bathroom -Good blackout curtains -BBC1 and BBC2 available on TV -Eateries nearby The bad -Noisy on street side -Shower water pressure wasn't great (shower was in bath rather than separate) -No room service at weekends was surprising and inconvenient -Fluro light above mirror in bathroom was flickering - we reported it and they just removed the bulb, not really a solution -Fridge in room creates a lot of heat in the room. We had some chocolate on the surface above the firdge enclosure next to the coffee machine and it actually melted ! I'd rather have a cooler room than a fridge which we didn't use. -Air con didn’t seem particularly effective -Chromecast option on the TV did not work - error 1003 given when scanning the QR code Neutral -Wifi and TV cut out frequently - TV screen goes black for about a minute then picture comes back - we reported this and they did fix it same day - Water in the bath and sink took a long time to drain but did eventually -back of bathroom door could use some paint Would I stay here again or recommend to a friend - probably would to be honest"

"3.5 star I would recommend this hotel but I wouldn't stay here again. Initially some confusion over rooms and we ended up going to 3 rooms before finally being told we could occupy the 4th room 505 (50 minutes later after arriving at the hotel). They upgraded us as a gesture of good will which was nice. We ended up with a room with a balcony. The extra space was nice but the balcony isn't worth it. I wouldn’t say the pictures on their own website give an accurate representation of the actual rooms. Could have done with more drawers- its ok for a 4 night stay but you'd stuggle for space if you were staying longer. The Alcove rooms are small (example room 621) with the bed pretty close to the door. You can hear the elevator from this room. The doors to the elevator are not soft closing and slam shut. Location of the hotel is pretty good with restaurants and cafes close as well as metro stations. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and chose to go to different places. Staff were friendly and welcoming."

""Poor service. When staying at a hotel of the advertised level of the M Social Paris Opera, the bare minimum one expects is humanized and empathetic service. I traveled 12 hours to get to Paris. They made me wait three and a half hours in the lobby because the room wasn't ready and the hotel was fully booked. The fact is, the hotel is committed to allowing check-in at 2 p.m. I was the only one at the front desk. The least the receptionist could have done was to prioritize getting my room ready before the others, since no one else was waiting. Next time, I'll stay in an Airbnb.""
