Hotel des Carmes

"We stayed at the hotel for six nights. The location is very nice in a quiet street within a nice neighbourhood and some nice restaurants around the corner. Tip: Upgrade your breakfast by picking up a fresh world class croissant from the bakery just around the corner or skip the hotel breakfast entirely - it‘s good, but not great. The rooms are nice and have a retro design. They‘re relatively small (even the superior ones), but that has to be expected in Paris. There were several problems with the service and the facilities during our stay. Room service was very late (sometimes after 3 in the afternoon) and often incomplete. There was a minibar with complimentary water and soft drinks that should have been refilled, but wasn‘t on several days. On one day even the toilet paper wasn‘t refilled. The elevator didn‘t work reliably and I got stuck twice in it. The coffee machine in the breakfast area was out of order on two days and the staff struggled to produce drinkable filter coffee. None of the technical issues were properly addressed by the staff - the only communication was a note on the elevator after some „incidents“ with a recommendation not to use it and of course the „out of order“ note on the coffee machine."

"We stayed here in August. The hotel is in a perfect location, only around a 7 minute walk to Notre Dame. The reception staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere to the hotel. The rooms are big for Paris including a big bathroom with a big shower which was really lovely. The air con in the room is excellent. The rooms were serviced daily and were cleaned to a very high standard. The hotel is in a quiet and safe area. There is a small convenience shop and very lovely jewellery shop across from the hotel. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants close by. At the bottom of the street there were market stalls on different days. The coffee at breakfast could be a little hotter, this is our only improvement. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again! Thanks for having us. Merci!"
