Villa Royale

"OK Hotel, certainly 3 stars at best. Room was clean, but shower was a shower head over a (not working) jacuzzi. Air-con was OK, but it wasn’t particularly hot, so I don’t know how effective this would be in mid-30s heat. Door handle came off in my hand. Still worked and I’m sure they’ll fix it, but feels all a bit tired. Also, bear in mind that the breakfast is a tray service you to the room. Average at best. A lukewarm machine cappuccino, and the bear minimum of actual continental breakfast spread. Area is fine. Loads of restaurants and bars (and sex shops/bars if that’s what you’re after…). We were there when PSG won the Champions League, so generally noisy, but I’m sure that’s not normal. Only a short walk from Sacre Coeur and the funicular to the top. Metro is right outside so good connection to Arc de Triomphe, Louvre etc. we went on from Gare du Lyon, which was 20 mins on the Metro. Same route on to the airport, so easy to get around."

"We were attracted to the boutique nature of this hotel but on closer inspection the decor was rather shabby and the carpet was worn in places and this was after they had offered a free upgradedThere was no door to the bathroom and therefore, no privacy when going to the toilet. It was evident that there was a sliding door at some point which had not been replaced. There was no shower, only a shower attachment for the bath. Breakfast was a big disappointment. The first day it didn’t arrive at all and on subsequent days there were items missing. I would have preferred the option of a room only rate as we had to supplement the breakfast by eating out. Although the staff were friendly and offered a discount on the first day’s breakfast, the standard of service did not reflect a 4 star hotel."

"It is an incredibly beautiful hotel. The rooms are lovingly decorated and beautifully, albeit slightly kitschy. The hotel is a bit old-fashioned, which you can see from time to time, but that is what makes the hotel so charming. This Hotel is a good Hotel."
