"Return to Paris ~ for a brief visit, and just passing through: we stayed for 2 nights as part of a Viking Tour. The hotel is very good, with comfortable and well-equipped rooms and spacious baths. A busy and efficient lobby and check-in staff make sure things go well and smoothly at every stage, even when handling large tour groups arriving simultaneously and en masse.
The location is central to most of the tourist sites in the city center and accessible by all modes of transport. It’s easy to find – stands out on the Southwest corner of the 17th Arrondissement, right off the arterial highway that circles the inner city. Most of Paris is built low, so that there are few structures that eclipse views of the Eiffel Tower, but this is one of two that got away (…and the other is derisively called the “Awful Tower” by locals - haha.)
The rooms are well laid out and equipped and spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and all requisite furnishings and accessories. The baths are modern, spacious and well designed. Hyatt is a well-respected chain and this one does not detract from that standard. All floors offer just spectacular views across the city, especially as the sun sets and the high-rise business district towers of Nanterre to the northwest (which are technically outside the City of Paris) start to light up and glimmer dreamily through the evening haze, as a counterpoint to the sparkling, solitary Eiffel Tower on the southern skyline.
The lobby is a bit crowded when the tour groups are transiting through – and there are many of those, but the staff manages to handle the crush with aplomb and courtesy. The breakfast lounge is located smack in this space, which during the morning tour-bus crush gets a bit hectic ~ but the staff does a good job of keeping things moving so no one misses the boat.
Our check-in was delayed a little, but the wonderful young lady at the front desk (I apologize but I did not note her name ... begins with P ?) made sure we were comfortable and gave us two complementary passes to Windo Skybar on the rooftop, to relax and enjoy a glass of champagne after our looong flight from NY. Now THAT is good service ~ and a great way to start a holiday."
