Hotel Le Petit Trianon

"We stayed here for three nights on our way to a holiday in Italy. Cheap and cheerful, a bit of a hike from the railway station, found it easier with suitcases to use the longer walking route along the wider streets as the more direct route wasn’t wheelie suitcase friendly. Definitely not luxurious but the room had everyone we needed. A nice but small balcony to sit and watch the world go by. Not for light sleepers as it’s quite noisy. A short walk to many eateries and the sea front. Staff friendly and helpful, when they saw we had a bottle of wine they left us a couple of glasses and an extra suitcase stand. A bit of a climb up the stairs!!!"

"This is a small hotel, alright, and we read some quite alarming reviews on tripadvisor, but decided to brave it when we visited Nice with two daughters in March 2019. When the four of us last traveled together, we stayed in a posh hotel in Palma de Mallorca, with access to executive lounge, big public areas etc. Le Petit Trianon had rooms, nothing else, and a pretty long schlep of four stairs up to the hotel-floor. Notwithstanding this, we learned to love it, not the least because of the wonderful lady who ran the place. There was no problem she could not solve, always with an interesting mix of English and French (my French stinks), but also always ending in a satisfactory solution. As the 'lobby' was manned just a few hours a day, there were occasional angry bellringing on the street door by people who had not read the manual, asi t were, but this was no serious bother. Another thing with a lobby without people, we were a little apprehensive at night, when noone was around in case of an emergency, but luckily nothing happened while we stayed there. Short walk to the old town, which is really nice, and a very short walk to Promenade des Anglais and Negresco Hotel. Anocean of difference between the two hotels, but I bet the Negresco does not have a Madame as we learned to love !"

"We stayed 2 nights in this small hotel with only about 7 rooms on the 3rd floor in a great location near the beach, restaurants and shops. The staff were friendly and provided us with details to check in late at 10.00pm. Our room was small with a comfortable double bed, small refrigerator, kettle, 2 mugs, but no tea or coffee or milk so you need to bring your own. We were lucky to get one of the rooms with a small balcony. The room and bathroom were very clean. The bathroom is very small to the point where you need to dry yourself in the bedroom otherwise your arms will hit the walls. There reception does not seem to be staffed all day only in the mornings for check out and afternoons for check ins. They allowed us to store our luggage in their reception area until we were able to catch our train. Would I recommend to family and friends, yes if they are not too large in body frame."
