Very disappointed
"Very disappointing experience. Our flight to Nice was cancelled due to a Lufthansa strike, and the free cancellation deadline for the hotel had expired only shortly before we were informed about the flight cancellation. We informed the hotel before check-in that we could not arrive. Despite the situation being completely outside our control, the hotel refused any refund or partial refund. Communication was slow and, in my opinion, not very helpful. Overall, I found the handling of this exceptional situation very poor and inflexible. I would not book this hotel again."
Taken all together, the stay wasn't particularly enjoyable
"to start of with the positives: the staff was very friendly. The room was also modern and comfortable. However mattress was rather firm, and the bedding was uncomfortable and lacked breathability. Also be aware that there is a lot of noise from the street if you are on the second floor due to the location being on a busy shopping street. There was also a highpitched beep 24/7 that seems to come from outside. Switching to another room was not possible according to the staff. Furthermore the hotel is next/above a mcdonalds. As a result, there is sometimes a strong smell of the fast-food chain inside the hotel. Also the tv was broken when I was there (no active license). Staff told me there was not much they could do about it. Individually, these issues aren't disastrous, but all things considered, my experience at Ikonik wasn't very pleasant."
Hotel in Nice, France
"Stayed here a few nights with friends while staying in Nice. Got a Spacious Queen Bed Room—the room is fairly small, but it’s nice and clean, bed and pillows were comfy. The shower is behind the bed’s head area with see through glass walls with no curtains. There are two separate sink areas on both sides of the shower, which is great so my friend and I have separate personal areas. You can open the windows to a fixed railing to see the street. Our thermo stat wasn’t working well so the room felt too warm, the air conditioning wasn’t great—we flagged this with concierge and eventually it was fixed and we could really feel the A/C then. The room walls are fairly thin, we can hear a lot of the noise in the hall and outside (stayed on the fourth floor). Service was good, concierge was friendly and helpful. In the little lobby waiting area, wasn’t a fan of the smell there, displeasurable fragrant that we didn’t like. Also, the hotel is small and there is only one tiny elevator—there are stairs too but they are uneven so if you’re not careful you could trip, and the hallways are very dim lit. Location here is great, close to the train station, a supermarket across the street, and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby."
