Westotel Nantes Atlantique

"During the heat wave in August, Grandparents and two families with 5 grandchildren ages 10 to 17 stayed for 6 nights. The rooms were lovely – we chose balcony rooms with wide patio doors overlooking the central pool area. The lovely palm trees created a real holiday vibe. We bought Nantes Day-Passes for the duration of our stay, which meant that we did not miss any of the main attractions, including the mechanical elephant ride! It also meant that all of our transport, including all of the trams and the train from Nantes to Erdre-Active railway station (definitely open, not permanently closed as described by Google Maps), were included. I took us just 9 minutes to walk from the hotel to Erdre-Active station. The hotel is situated to the North of Nantes, with easy and regular 18-minute train access to Nantes railway station, which connected to trams that like hamsters around the city. Each stop displayed a map of the tram network so that you could see the names of each stop, and plan any journey. We accomplished most of our site-seeing in the mornings, before the days became too hot. The pool kept the children occupied every afternoon while the adults stayed cool in the bar, or in the shade of the parasols. As you arrive, you are welcomed by the air-conditioned foyer of the hotel, vast and impressive. The foyer leads on to a beautiful bar decorated with a nautical theme, which in turn opens to a huge dining room – so impressive with white tablecloths and navy-blue and gold seating. The décor of the hotel was lovely throughout. The spacious bathrooms in our rooms were spotlessly clean, maintained every day to a very high standard. The large double beds were very comfortable, with quality bed-linen. The beautiful curtains blocked out the strong sunshine, helping to keep the rooms cool. The air-con kept the hotel at 26.5’C – quite impressive with outside temperatures at 36’C or more. In each room there was a coffee machine with a couple of coffee pods, and a kettle. Tea bags and sugar were also provided. There is a large supermarket within a short walk from the hotel where you can find anything you may need (and hot coffee and delicious cakes!) There were many choices of restaurants in the town centre where we had lunch, but in the evening, we, the grandparents, preferred to ‘eat-in’. The menu gave us many choices, and the meals never disappointed. The steak was especially good, and the wine was fairly priced. We only took breakfast a couple of mornings, when we were not dashing off on a site-seeing mission. Everything your heart may desire was available, from scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon, to ‘pain-au-chocolates’. We concluded that our choice of Westotel made our family holiday perfect - when the heat-wave could have ruined it! The friendliness and professionalism of the staff added to the ambience of the hotel. Highly recommended, especially for families."

"We are a family of four from Denmark travelling through France on a four-week road trip. We stayed at Westotel Nantes Atlantique for two nights and had a wonderful stay. Before arriving, we had read several negative reviews, so we were a little nervous. Fortunately, our experience was completely different. In our opinion, the hotel fully lived up to our expectations and turned out to be one of the biggest positive surprises of our trip. We booked the hotel at the last minute on the day of arrival and got an excellent price. In fact, this was the cheapest stay of our entire road trip - and at the same time one of the very best. The value for money is outstanding. Our room was spacious with plenty of room for luggage, and the housekeeping was excellent. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the small refrigerator made it easy to keep drinks and snacks cold. The pool area was another highlight. The pool is large, with plenty of sunbeds and parasols, making it easy to relax even on warm days. Parking was free and conveniently located right outside the hotel. The only part of our stay that surprised us was the check-in procedure. Check-in officially starts at 4:00 p.m. We arrived at 3:45 p.m. hoping our room might already be available, but we were asked to wait until exactly 4:00 p.m. Many other guests had been told the same thing, so a queue quickly formed when everyone was allowed to check in at once. We have never experienced that before. Our children slept on the sofa bed. While we had proper duvets, the children only had sheets and blankets. We asked at the reception if duvets were available for them, but were told this wasn’t possible. An extra blanket was the only option. We didn’t have breakfast, so we can’t comment on that. However, at check-out we were mistakenly charged for breakfast. After we explained the situation, the staff acknowledged that it was an internal mistake and corrected the bill without any problems. While it wasn’t the ideal way to end our stay, it didn’t change our overall impression of the hotel. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return. If you’re looking for a spacious hotel with a lovely pool, free parking and excellent value for money, we can highly recommend Westotel Nantes Atlantique."

"I would not know where to start as the whole experience has been a disappointment. We booked a suite - the most expensive room in the hotel but the suite was located on the ground floor with no privacy, unsafe as easily accessible from the terrace (broken tiles, weeds, etc..), facing a wall with a large and noisy AC extractor, no daylight (wall and tall trees), carpet soiled, furniture from 1970 and inexistent warmth, just basic and worse the bedroom ceiling at less than 180 cm height) Staff dismissive alleging that they only have one suite and this is the location of it (200 m down a corridor). The breakfast is a disaster : limited choice, buffet not refilled, nor cleaned, tables not cleaned, as they accommodate and prioritize large groups who create havocs but the large canteen (I wouldn't call that a restaurant) is not tidied and cleaned for individual guests. The outdoors are totally neglected : uncleaned, landscape uncarried for, etc...this is an hotel for meeting and conference only where an individual guest is not important and would not feel comfortable."
