Domaine de Verchant

"Spectacular. Verchant is small (guess maybe 60 rooms) but it is an elegant retreat with wonderful food, multiple swimming pools, gorgeous decor and most important and eager and dedicated staff. It’s a ten minute ride to the heart of Montpellier. We spent three nights at Domaine de Verchant, but will make it a week next time. Prices for rooms are too Low for the value."

"We had a one stay on our way back to Mallorca. The property is stunning and has beautiful grounds which is one of the reasons we chose the hotel as we have a German shepherd. Our room, a suite, was superb and very spacious and well located for reception, restaurant and all the grounds. Reception was efficient , helpful and friendly. Room service was also very good and efficient. So far so good. The problem the hotel has is for a 5 star at these prices details are important. The car park is a distance from the reception and there is no valet parking available and no one present around the car par to help with luggage etc. For me this is a must for a 5 star. The restaurant. The food was very good, however the service, although friendly, was slow. We waited a while before someone asked us what we wanted to drink . I was shocked when we asked for 2 Bloody Marys and we were told that they did not do those types of cocktails! Apparently they only do “classic cocktails”.... that for a top restaurant is ludicrous We then waited for a while for the wine we ordered, so we sat there for at least 30 minutes without getting a drink One last point if your a pet owner. Although you pay a supplement to have your pet stay the hotel does not even provide a dogs bowl in the room. So take yours... I would not discourage anyone from staying here and we may well go back but they need to iron out the small details to be truly 5 star"

"IT was my most horrible stay in a 5 star hotel ever. ... and I visited many of them around the world. In the completely new building neither the heating not the lightning worked propoerly. We expienced twice a free «disco feeling» because the lightning system went crazy. The staff appered helpless and argued «… it can happen, ist a new building…». Only after wem ade a lot of noise we got a new room on the second day, which was not much better because the lightning system didn’t work either. The SPA is a location without rules, people are using their smartphones, take pictures and videos in the SPA/POOL Area, other guests eat and drink in the sauna In the restaurant they forgot our reservation fort he 2nd evening and reacted without empathy, just arguing, take the seat (somewhere in a drafty corner) I give… the restaurant is fully booked (which was not true) We have a house in Malaga and travel frequently by car from Basel to Malaga. After the first stay in summer 2025 we thought we found a nice place to take a short break and relax from the long drive, but this hope vanished into thin air. "
