Hotel Maison Montgrand Vieux Port

"We arrived today and were met by a lovely young man. We returned later as advised to check in. We were then given a point toward a building across the road. Limited to no instructions from the young lady, in fact we felt like an inconvenience. After walking past a large curtain ‘hiding’ laundry we made our way up the staircase which I would expect the decor to be condemned. However, upon entering our ‘superior room’ our feelings went out to those in a regular room! This is barely a level above a hostel. As a footnote, we thought we’d try the hotel bar (in the nice building), but wandered around as the receptionist sat and looked unbelievably disinterested. So we left and returned to our room. If we had more in our budget we would just leave and book into somewhere nice. Details to be aware of… no safe, no fridge."

"When I booked this hotel, I was looking for a small, clean, safe, chill, local vibe hotel within walking distance or short taxi ride to most of what I wanted to see in a single day stay. This hotel did a good job on most of these requirements. The reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars is bc I feel it needs new curtains, wider blackout currents to stop more light from coming in and a little over all TLC. It was a small room without question but that worked perfect for me as a solo. The bathroom had recently been renovated and was nice. The door was heavy metal door and seems very secure. I want to commend the restaurant! It is located in an open air garden within the main building and the food was amazing! Limited selection but fantastic. The restaurant staff was very nice and helpful. The WiFi was not good at all in my hotel room but was great in main building. The location was great and allowed me to walk to most of the sights I was interested in."

"Very convenient location. It has a nice little courtyard at the back of the hotel (although quite noisy as right beside a school!) Nice sounds of happy kids! We had a room that was rather like a little bed sit - it had a tiny weeny well kitted out kitchen, with the possibility of heating up and preparing food. The room was in a separate section of the hotel - a sort of annexe. The staff at reception were not that easy or warm but that is about the only criticism - for the price I think it is very good. We had a balcony although it was blocked all ways by buildings and not that great."
