Hotel Bellevue

"We only book hotels that have air conditioning, particularly when traveling in the summer. When we checked into Hotel Bellevue, the air conditioning was working fine. However, when we returned from dinner, there was a large puddle of water on the floor and lots of dripping from the vent in the ceiling. The staff was notified and they cleaned up the floor, provided extra towels and placed buckets under the vent. It was too late to call anyone to come fix it and there was not another room available to move us into. So we spent the night listening to the dripping of water into buckets. The next day, we left early to do sightseeing in 90 + degree weather and returned hot and tired around 3:00 pm. We were told we could not get into our room, because the repairman had gone to retrieve a part for the A/C and the repairs were not completed. We were asked to wait in the bar, but were given no time frame as to when we would be able to get back into our room. After over an hour, we were finally able to get back into our room. When we left the hotel a few days later, we asked that we be given a discount (no specific amount requested) for our inconvenience, since we had already paid in full. We didn't hear back from anyone, so we sent a written request after a couple of weeks. We received a written response from the manager, saying that their staff had done everything to resolve the issue in a timely manner, and he did not believe a discount would be appropriate, since the matter was resolved within a short time frame. We were disappointed that this hotel did not feel that our inconvenience had any value. We did not expect a refund, just a modest discount in light of our unpleasant experience. Because of the way this was handled, we can only rate this hotel a "2"."
