Novotel Lyon Gerland Musee Confluence

"Etan was such a lovely waiter! His English was really good and he was so funny and friendly. We had a few particular requests, but he handled everything perfectly and was really patient with us. He made us laugh and definitely made the whole meal more enjoyable. Great service from Etan! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"I’m surprised this hotel has a 4 star rating. The reception staff were welcoming, the location was convenient to the tram into the city (but it was not located in the main town centre) and the room size was okay. We chose the hotel because of it’s proximity to the tram and the location of a conference I was attending. However, we did not expect to have to practically beg for milk in our room only to be told by the staff member who delivered it that it was very abnormal to request milk and that we should drink our coffee and tea black like the French do. Well, excuse me, my husband was raised in France and did not consider such a request, especially in a 4 star hotel, to be abnormal. The pool was clearly in need of refurbishing with cracked tiles and flaky concrete. There is no toilet in the pool area-guests have to get dressed and walk some distance through the dining and reception area to access the ground floor toilets-one can only guess how many bother (especially the children 😳). You cannot charge to your room food or drink purchased in the pool area-you are expected to pay on the spot. I have never experienced this in a 4 star hotel and it left my husband feeling very embarrassed as he had not brought his wallet with him. Furthermore, while I have experienced having to leave a deposit for a towel in hotels. I did not expect to have to rent pool towels at a 4 star hotel. We were also charged a deposit on arrival that exceeded the cost of our accommodation by approximately 800 Euros! We had pre-booked the accommodation well ahead so the hotel knew how many days we were staying. What were they expecting we would do/steal/destroy? I’m sorry if the hotel has had such negative experiences with guests that they feel justified in doing this, but really, in a 4 star hotel? In other hotels we have stayed at they either take the deposit as the price of the accommodation or request an upfront payment-both fine and reasonable. Overall, an average experience. I have experienced much better from Accor in the past."

"Excellent stay at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Rooms were comfortable and a good size. The hotel was very quiet at night. Food in the restaurant was very good and breakfast was excellent with great variety (try the madelines)."
