Mercure Lyon Centre Perrache

"Mercure Lyon Centre Château Perrache has easily been the best stay of our journey so far. Housed in a beautifully preserved, renovated historic building, the property perfectly captures authentic French grandeur with its classic Art Nouveau architectural character, soaring ceilings, and distinct Lyonnaise charm. The location could not be more convenient, sitting right next to the Gare de Perrache, it makes arriving and exploring the city seamless. From the moment we walked in, the reception team provided outstanding, welcoming service and treated us to a wonderful upgrade to a suite. The room itself was superb. Between the thoughtful amenities (including plush robes and slippers) and the exceptionally comfortable bed, it was the exact relaxing haven we needed after a long day of travel. We had a great, uninterrupted night's sleep. If you appreciate historic character, seamless connectivity, and genuine hospitality, this hotel delivers on every front. Highly recommended."

"I had reserved a room for" 1 person, simple room, full bed" on Booking. I found myself in a minute single room with a single twin bed. Translation problem? On complaining I was told I should have called the hotel directly. The others in my group paid the same price and got large, comfortable rooms. Besides this, I had specifically asked for a quiet room; I was put with a window facing the very large train station; at 6am when the room got too hot I wanted to open the window and got all the trains passing and announcements. And no possibility of using their air conditioning as this room had no way of controlling it; the AC came on from a central location at 7am. Given the tininess of the room there was very little furniture. A table and wooden chair. The bed table was a small plank held up by 2 small planks. No drawers. This little, more or less Ikea style. Do not believe toiletrieS; there is only one: bath gel. No shampoo, no cream, no conditioner, no kleenex. Far from the center, on a single subway line, almost anywhere other than the center, you need to change lines. It is also very difficult to find your way out of the subway to the hotel. After asking (and I was with someone who had once lived in Lyon!) we had to go under a tunnel and up a driveway."
