Hotel Silky by HappyCulture

"This was our third time staying at Hotel Silky, and we continue to return primarily because of its fantastic location. Situated within easy walking distance of Lyon’s major sights, restaurants, and shops, it is an ideal base for exploring the city. We stayed in a Superior Room on the third floor, which was lovely, clean, and comfortable overall. Unfortunately, a few issues detracted from our experience. On two occasions during our stay, we were awoken at approximately 2 a.m. by an extremely loud noise that lasted around ten minutes before stopping. It sounded as though it may have been related to the water pipes in another suite, although I cannot say for certain. Being woken in the middle of the night like this was certainly not ideal. We also experienced repeated problems with our room keycard, which stopped working several times. Each time, we had to return to reception to have it reset, only to walk back up to the third floor and discover that it still would not unlock our door. This resulted in several unnecessary trips back and forth and became quite frustrating. It would have been much appreciated if staff could have tested the keycard before sending us back to our room. Service at reception was also inconsistent. One male member of staff was particularly unwelcoming when I approached him for assistance. He barely acknowledged me or made eye contact while I was speaking, which felt dismissive and was disappointing for someone working in a guest-facing role. On a much more positive note, special thanks to Fatima, who was absolutely lovely and provided wonderful service. Her warmth and helpfulness were genuinely appreciated and made a positive impression. Overall, Hotel Silky's location remains its greatest asset and the main reason we have chosen to stay here three times. Our room was pleasant, and we appreciate the convenience the hotel offers. However, the recurring keycard issues, nighttime noise, and inconsistent reception service prevented this visit from being as enjoyable as our previous stays could have been. With improvements in these areas and greater consistency in guest service, Hotel Silky could deliver a much better overall experience."

"We loved our stay at the hotel; it is very well maintained and well located. Attentive team"

"We arrived on an unusually warm day in September and were allocated a small room with very inefficient air con on the top floor. Thankfully the next night we were moved to a newer room on the 2nd floor which was far more spacious. The hotel manager was supremely helpful and comped us a breakfast to make up for the 1st night. The hotel is well located amidst shops and a short walk to many restaurants, also walkable to several attractions. I would stay here again but I would make sure it was one of the newer rooms."
