What a lucky find
"What a lucky find. We were in Lyon to visit the Polish consulate so I was looking for a hotel within walking distance and this was the closest with good reviews. We were exremely happy with the choice, what a lovely hotel. Apart from the location to our requirements, it's in a fantastic location overall. 2 metro stations within a short walk, a huge and diverse choice of lovely bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk but the hotel itself is on a nice quite street. As others have mentioned, the breakfast choice is lovely, and particularly for us as my partner is gluten intolerant, there was a decent choice of breads to go with all the many other options. The crowning glory though, are the staff. Right from the minute we walked in the door they could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We knew we'd arrive 3 hrs before check in time, so had pre-arranged to be able to leave our luggage there to go for lunch. When we arrived the friendly receptionist told us they had prepped our room early to suit our arrival.... brilliant, great start. Our room was perfect for a 4 night stay, not huge, but a large and very comfortable bed and nice big bathroom with a large walk in shower and tastefully decorated. They had even put the aircon on to cool the room prior to our arrival, very thoughtful. The Nespresso machine and kettle were a most welcome addition. All of the staff we met were equally friendly, cheerful and very efficient and I cannot fault a single element of our stay. Check in/out was effortless and everything slick and in order. Highly recommended."
Little gem near Lyon Part Dieu
"I chose Hôtel Edmond W in Lyon primarily for its excellent location, just a pleasant 15-minute walk from Gare Part-Dieu along wide, comfortable sidewalks. Despite its proximity to the station, the hotel sits in the charming Brotteaux neighborhood, an area full of character where you can find everything from renowned brasseries such as Paul Bocuse’s to lively bars around Place Juliette Récamier. The hotel’s own street, however, is quiet, giving it a welcoming, almost residential feel. The hotel itself is small, with traditional architecture complemented by an original and tasteful décor. The standard rooms are well-equipped with all the necessary comforts, including a spacious bed with a very comfortable mattress and pillows. The bathroom is modern and generously sized, although I personally would have preferred a rain shower. Another appreciated touch is the in-room coffee and tea station. Cleanliness is impeccable, and the air conditioning works perfectly—something especially valuable during warmer days. Above all, what truly stands out is the professionalism and warmth of the reception staff. Delphine, in particular, went out of her way to ensure that my husband and I—both seniors—had a smooth and comfortable arrival, which we deeply appreciated. In conclusion, I highly recommend Hôtel Edmond W for anyone looking to stay in a beautiful, comfortable, and well-connected area, with easy access not only to Gare Part-Dieu but also to the rest of the wonderful city of Lyon."
A jewel in Lyon
"I very much enjoyed my stay at this charming and cosy hotel. It's ieally located within walking distance of the main station and the centre, with plenty of places to eat around the area. The staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful with advice on local bouchons. We had an issue with the heating in the bathroom and it was swiftly addressed. I found a very sweet note of apology and a little bag of toiletries when I returned to my room that evening. That's what I call service! The room (indeed the whole hotel) was tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable. My only gripe - there wasn't much space for clothes if staying for more than a couple of days. Breakfast - varied and plentiful; bathroom - well appointed. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again on a future trip to Lyon!"
