Un Hotel en Ville

"We loved our stay at this very charming small hotel. Communication with the owner prior to arrival was excellent and we received a very warm welcome. Easy to find after using the airport bus into town for 1.5 euro! Our ground floor room no 3 was spacious, beautifully decorated in a very modern style , fantastic air conditioning and an excellent very very comfortable superking bed. It was immaculately clean and compliments to the owner and housekeeper for their excellent standards. Great shower and bath. Lovely toiletries thank you. Complimentary tea and coffee was available in the breakfast room at any time which I really appreciated. The location is fabulous,very quiet area but only one road back from the lively and vibrant port area with many restaurants. Short walk to a beach too. Only 11 rooms so the hotel has a tranquil homely feel and the exceptional warmth of the host made this short stay one to remember, I was sad to leave and would love to return. It says it’s 2 star, but I found it way superior to some 4 star hotels I’ve stayed in . Thank you very much."

"We stayed here for 3 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. Cécile is a wonderful host, answering questions before and during our stay, and messaging to ensure we arrived safely. The hotel is rated 2 stars, but outshines many 4 star hotels I stayed in. We booked a comfort double room which was very spacious, well laid out and spotlessly clean. We had great sleep thanks to a really comfortable bed with good quality linen as well as shutters which kept the room dark. There are a small number of rooms here which meant that there was no noise at night. The location is great, very close to the old port and many tourist spots, with many bars and restaurants within a very short walk. I hope to go back to La Rochelle and if I do I will return to Un Hotel En Ville."

"I ve stayed in a lot of hotels in La Rochelle and ths is my favourite. Simple, clean, modern, dead central, the loveliest, friendliest, most helpful owner and a gorgeous roof terrace over looking a quiet square. Two minutes to anything, without the noise of being on the front. You can pop (2 minutes away) to a 'cave', wine seller, buy a bottle of wine and sit up on the terrace wiling away the evening. Will definitely be back. Amazing price too."
