Hotel La Fiancee du Pirate

"This was such a disappointing and costly experience. We are both in our 80's and were traveling from Florida to Nice to attend a family wedding. We had searched different properties online. The photos of the views and amenities on their website were very appealing. This is actually what we received: (please look at the proof in the photos.) - Our room was tucked away in the corner of the property. - Our room reminded us of a tool shed to which beds were added. - There was no window in our room. The only light came from the door glass. - No mini-fridge - no microwave - cracked tiles in the room - Absolutely NO VIEW. Any view was blocked by a bush outside our door. - "Danger tape" covering broken tiles on the patio - Dirty ashtrays on the patio tables. - Down three flights of steep stairways before encountering our room. - Although we were only two persons in this room, the management arbitrarily put us in a "triple" room and charged us for the increased cost. - No shampoo, no soap, no amenities in the bathroom. - You see no lamps, only bare light bulbs on the tables and wall. - Once we had the chance to evaluate this lodging we made the decision this was not the hotel room we would have rented. This was a room that was grossly misrepresented on their website; we opted to move to another property. As a result, this hotel owner billed us for two nights claiming we did not give them the required cancellation time frame. It cost us $550.00 USD. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away."

"Firstly the positives, a friendly lady greeted us and showed us around and asked us about breakfast as we were leaving early next morning to get the ferry and apparently we were the only people staying there that night. She agreed to prepare us a cold breakfast which would be ready for us. Also, it was a beautiful view across the coastline. The negatives - the lady wouldn’t leave us alone, she kept coming and talking to us about this and that; it was like she was trying too hard. Next, the place was in need of a good tidy up. There are half finished jobs everywhere you looked. It is located on a very busy road so it’s never peaceful. This is not really a hotel, it felt like you were just a guest in her house. When we arrived for our breakfast, there was nobody around (assumed still asleep) and so we had to leave with nothing to eat or drink. All in all, one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed."

"It’s a backpackers not a hotel! Rated at a 3 star 9 is misleading. At AUD435, one would expect something half decent…far from it…. We were presented with dirty laundry on and behind the reception desk, dead plants, holes in the carpets, sheets covered breakfast food, dirty door handles, untidy with piles of stuff everywhere, rug at reception is a curled up trip hazard. The photos on booking.com and Expedia are not a true representation of this property, Always sort and read low ratings as these sites don’t promote the true position. It was so bad we didn’t stay, they didn’t refund anything."
