Luxotel Cannes

"I stayed at this hotel for three nights during the Cannes Yachting Festival and paid approximately €1,200 in total. For this price, my experience was extremely disappointing. Before my arrival, I contacted the hotel several times asking them to combine my two consecutive reservations so that I would not have to change rooms during my stay. I also specifically requested, if possible, a quiet room with a large bed and a shower. Unfortunately, these requests were practically ignored before my arrival. The only positive exception was the very friendly member of staff at check-in, who genuinely did everything she could to find a solution and combine the reservations. I would like to thank her explicitly for her efforts. Unfortunately, room 138 was anything but quiet. On the second day, there was significant drilling and construction noise inside the building, which was still continuing at 6:30 p.m. In addition, there was repeated and considerable noise coming from an adjoining area. As the hotel appears to be connected to a residential building, it was impossible for me to determine exactly whether the noise was coming from another hotel room or from the residence next door. I complained personally at reception and also contacted the hotel through Booking.com. What disappointed me most was the reaction – or rather, the complete lack of any reaction – from the hotel management. To this day, nobody from management has considered it necessary to contact me. There was no apology, no offer to change rooms, no gesture of goodwill – simply no response whatsoever. Problems can occur in any hotel. What really matters is how a hotel deals with them. And in this respect, this hotel completely failed in my opinion. At approximately €400 per night, I expect more than simply being provided with a room. I also expect an appropriate level of service and customer care. Based on my experience, this property certainly did not provide the four-star standard its pricing would suggest. I would rate the overall experience as that of a good three-star hotel at best. My recommendation to other travellers is therefore very simple: if peace and quiet, good service and professional handling of complaints are important to you, I would strongly suggest choosing another hotel in Cannes. The most disappointing aspect was not even the noise itself. It was the apparent indifference of the management towards a legitimate complaint from a paying guest."
